Menheniot-Looe ladies travelled to St Neot on a drizzly Monday evening for their first round in the Cornwall Cup. The winner of this match, would face Callington at home in the next round. Menheniot-Looe won the toss and opted to field first. All the team, except Captain Rach, bowled in the 20 over match, where the team fielded tightly and took 3 St Neot wickets in the form of 2 run outs and a stumping, coming from Loretta, Suzzi, and Rach. Menheniot-Looe’s turn to bat with a total of 96 to beat. We soon put runs on the score board with each batting pair scoring in the 20s and 30s. 4s coming from Beth, Suzzi, Tracy and Lindsey. Menheniot-Looe only losing 2 wickets, which took their final score to 131, meaning they won the match by 40 runs. Each team picked a player of the match from the opposing side and St Neot chose Tracy E as their player, Menheniot-Looe chose Rachael K as theirs. We also chose our own player of the match, which went to Summer G, on her debut match for the team. Well done Ladies.

We fielded well, mostly keeping Werrington to single runs, until their last pair came into bat and put a few 4s on the score board. Menheniot-Looe taking 2 wickets, which came from a wicket keeping catch from Rach and a lovely straight bowled wicket from Beth. We should’ve taken more, but we missed a few catches. When it was our turn to bat Amy & Beth started first, putting some well earned runs on the scoreboard. Loretta and Jo then followed doing the same followed by Suzzi and Zoe, who finished their innings with Menheniot-Looe on the same total runs that Werrington had scored. Lindsey and Rach then took up their batting positions, with Zoe’s advice of “Don’t do anything stupid” in their heads! This advice must have worked as the pair added more runs to that total to bring Menheniot-Looe’s
