Callington Town Ladies and Kilkhampton Ladies faced off in a double header, with the league game ending in a 0-0 draw and the cup game resulting in a 1-1 tie.
Before the match, both teams held a minute’s silence in memory of Poppy Atkinson.
The game began with both teams displaying strong performances. Kilkhampton had a few shots on target, but with some brilliant clearances and saves by Sarah the score was kept tied. As the game progressed, the ladies showcased their skills, creating chances and showcasing their teamwork. Unfortunately, they were unlucky not to convert any of these opportunities.
Near the end of the first match, Kilkhampton began to lose their composure, and Callington capitalised on their frustration. However, the whistle blew, and the game ended in a goalless draw, securing a well-deserved point for the league.
During the break, the team realised that the second game would be a tough challenge. They knew they had to work and fight for each other to secure a win. Unfortunately, they had already been eliminated from the cup, but they had to finish the final game to determine the team that would progress.
Despite the fatigue setting in, Callington started the second game strong and took the lead in less than a minute. However, Kilkhampton managed to equalise, and the game continued to be a fierce battle. With fresh legs coming onto the pitch, Callington held Kilkhampton at bay, causing more frustration for the opposing team. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
