A decent turnout of 27 Guns basked in brilliant sunshine at Cairndow today with young Donny Macphail taking the high gun prize with a 50/147 2nd was Gordon Shankland on 145 3rd Ally MacDonell on 144 4th = Andy Hetherington & Gordon Collins on 143 6th = Mark Lawrie & Ian Dingwall on 141. Thanks to everyone that came along and a big thanks to those that helped out on the day, we couldn't do it without you.

Please note our next 50DTL competition scheduled for the Saturday 21st February will now take place on Saturday 28th February and we will now hold a 50DTL competition on Saturday 28th March in place of the 14th March fixture. Please let anyone you know not on Facebook of these changes.

Great day at Cairndow today even if the turnout was poor, tying for High Gun was Ronald Jenkins on 50/145 and Andy Hetherington on 49/145 3rd was Paul Chalmers on 141 4th= was John Kennedy and Jay Shields on 137. Coming out on top in the very popular and hotly contested pool trap was Paul Chalmers who walked away with a reasonable sum of cash. There was a small presentation for Morven Short who is retiring from her position as club secretary (and a lot more besides) after nearly 40 years.

Good turnout of 35 guns today at our new year shoot, weather conditions were pretty decent. Scooping up the £50 high gun prize was Paul Chalmers on 49/146 coming a very close 2nd was Bute's Kevin Queen on 50/145 another Bute resident Leighton Reid was 3rd on 49/144 4th John Kennedy on 48/141 5th Tom Young on 49/140 6th= Keith Andrew & Alan Brown on 139. In the well contested pool trap Leighton Reid came out on top taking home £125 for his efforts, Keith Andrew was runner up and got a 15yo Glenfiddich for his efforts kindly donated by Gordon Collins. Our thanks to everyone that helped out on the day we couldn't hold a shoot without your help and finally thanks to John Mackin for an epic pot of soup.

With Dunoon CTC cancelling their new year John Jacobsen trophy shoot Cairndow CTC will now hold a 50 DTL competition on Friday 2nd January 2026 with a £50 prize for high gun along with other cash prizes depending on entries... hopefully we'll have a pool trap running also.. please note there will be no food only tea, coffee and maybe a few biscuits. Look forward to seeing you all in 2026.
