First day of spring and the legs are already dreaming of long miles and quiet places 🌱🚴♂️
A quiet pedal into the hills, heading for Arenig Fawr bothy. The roads are still empty, the air sharp, but there’s that shift you can feel, longer light, softer edges, the season turning.
The bothy itself is as minimal as it gets. Likely once a shelter for reservoir workers, now just four walls and a roof for those passing through. It sleeps two comfortably, three at a squeeze, so don’t count on space, just be glad it’s there.
No fuel nearby, so carry what you need and keep your impact light. Sheep graze around the area, so make sure the door is properly closed when you leave, small things that keep these places going.
This is bikepacking at its simplest. No noise, no rush. Just riding into the change of season.
