Yesterday U11s travelled to Cwmbran where they came up against a very tough side. Some excellent Rugby on display during the 40 minutes from the home side with Old Boys battling hard throughout.

Well done to Matthew for winning Coaches Player of Match for some great running with ball in hand & Konrad for winning Opposition Player of Match for his effort throughout the 40 minutes.

Good luck Cwmbran RFC Under 11s 2026-2027 for the rest of the season.

NHSOB RFC U10s vs Cwmbran RFC U10s

The U10s travelled up this morning to take on Cwmbran RFC U10s in what was a fantastic game of rugby!

Both teams defended brilliantly and produced some great attacking rugby throughout. The Old Boys came away with 11 tries, but more importantly, every player was superb and resolute in their efforts. 👏

🏆 Player of the Match – Hudson
A fantastic performance from Hudson, with some great tackles, superb running lines and some fine tries!

💪 Team Player of the Match – Jaxon
A solid all-round performance from Jaxon, tackling well, running hard and showing a relentless work rate from start to finish.

Another excellent effort with some big tackles!

Our first game of the season away at Cwmbrân today, and what a fantastic morning of rugby!

Another week where we’re seeing confidence building, improvements happening and some fantastic rugby being played.

The progress from week to week is brilliant to see, with more tackles being made, players growing in confidence and everyone working hard for each other. 💪

Yesterday NHSOB U11s welcomed Pill, Chepstow, Newport Saracens and Old Pens to The Hawthorns for the Early Contact Festival.

Some fantastic rugby on display from all teams with the sun shining down for spectators to really enjoy the matches throughout the day. It was great to see all of the support towards all players no matter what team the support came to see.

Festivals are always great adverts for grassroots rugby and many playing will go on to bigger things with their careers as they get older.

Thanks to all the teams for participating in a great event. Good luck for the rest of the season and we look forward to playing again soon.

Well done Old Boys U11s for a great day of rugby and a fantastic end to it with a 5 v 5 squash boat race to keep that camaraderie on display.

🏉 NHSOB U9s – Early Contact Rugby Festival

Yesterday was the NHSOB Early Contact Rugby Festival, and where better for our Under 9s to play their very first contact rugby than at home! 💙🏉

Yesterday saw our U9s take on Bridgend Athletic, St Albans, Caerleon and Oakdale. For every player, this was their first year of contact rugby. There were no winners, no losers and no league tables — just an opportunity for the players to take what they’ve been learning in training, put it into practice and continue their rugby pathway and development.

And that’s exactly what NHSOB did.

24 players, our U9s were able to field two teams, meaning plenty of rugby for everyone and lots of opportunities to get involved, learn and develop.

And they were absolutely amazing. 👏

What a difference we’re already seeing from last season’s tag rugby. The players were playing, listening to feedback after each match, taking it on board, applying it and then going back out there and showing what they had learned.

The attitude, team spirit and application throughout the day were fantastic. There were plenty of tries scored, but yesterday was about so much more than that.

It was about improving, passing, working together, trying new things, supporting each other and having the confidence to get stuck in.

There were moments of brilliant rugby, moments where things didn’t quite go to plan, and plenty of learning — exactly what an early contact festival is all about.

This morning our under 15s were warmly welcomed by Machen RFC for our very first match of the season.... with only 16 players the old boys showed up, played some amazing rugby and were lucky enough to come away with the win 👏🏼
