The Lab Martial Arts trains out of the historic Chelmorton Institute (near Buxton). Sitting right on the 1,200-foot (366m) contour line high up in the Peak District, we are officially the highest elevation regular BJJ and Muay Thai club in the country. 🇬🇧

The mats are officially broken in at 1,200ft! 🥋✨

We had two fantastic sessions this evening at our new home over in Chelmorton. We couldn’t ask for a better backdrop than being right in the heart of the Peak District National Park⛰️

Classes will resume on Wednesday, June 3rd at our new venue, the Chelmorton Institute. Going forward, training will take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings.

We aren’t heading to a galaxy far, far away for long! We will be back to our normal timetable starting tomorrow.

I’ve put my heart into The Lab since 2023, and we’ve built something truly special here. Beyond our amazing local members, we have people traveling in from Glossop, Wilmslow, Sheffield, and Chesterfield—and even people dropping in to train while they’re here on holiday.
But I’m being honest with you all: we’re in a tough spot. If I can’t find a new unit in Buxton soon to keep our mats down, I’m going to have to shut the club down for good.
We are looking for an open industrial or commercial space. If you’ve spotted a "To Let" sign or know someone with a vacant warehouse, please reach out. I’d love to keep this community together if we can. 🥊

So , British stunt register coordinator Ray Nicholas and I are holding a fight choreography for film and TV training day at Elite International Martial arts, Warsall Rd, Sharston industrial estate, Wythenshawe, Manchester M22 4RH.
On Saturday 9th May 1pm -5pm cost £65
The course is suitable for anyone with a training background.
Whether you're an industry professional or just interested in learning how to fight for the camera, this course is for you! All levels of experience are welcome!

I personally have 13 years of experience performing on screen in films such as Napoleon, Dungeons and Dragons, Fast X, and TV shows such as In to the Badlands and the Responder

Ray is like the Oracle of on-screen combat!
He has over 3 decades of experience and has worked on the majority of classic action movies you've ever heard of, including Gladiator, Gladiator 2, Bond, Bourne, Brave heart, Titanic, as well as featured roles in TV shows such as Gangs of London and Game of Thrones!
Both Ray and myself are featured in the upcoming biopic of World's Strongest man due for release in May.
Our style of screen combat is visually impactful and realistic! We look forward to seeing you there!

🥊 HELP US FIND A NEW HOME: THE LAB NEEDS YOU! 🥋

To our incredible Buxton community,
For the past two and a half years, The Lab has been more than just a place to train—it’s been a dedicated home for Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Due to a change in our current building status, we are officially searching for a new local unit to keep our mats down and our martial arts community together.
We are a club built on discipline, respect, and technical growth. We aren’t ready to stop, but we need the right space to keep our students training.
What We’re Looking For:

• Location: A commercial or industrial unit in the Buxton area.

• The Space: Open floor space suitable for martial arts mats (minimal fixtures needed).

• The Vibe: A professional environment where our club can continue to grow.

• Timeline: Ready for move-in ASAP.

How You Can Help:

1. Landlords/Business Owners: If you have a vacant unit or surplus space that could house a community sports club, please DM us directly.
