The Foodfolk took me on another brilliant walk! We went in the car for a LONG time (Foodguy: 20 - 30 mins) but then I was off my lead the whole walk. I runned through fields and woods and up a hill. We saw lots of flowers and I listened for cuckyoos and peckerswoods and I sniffed da foxes! Afterwards, we went to a beerplace and they gave me schnackos just for sitting and being a good boy!

Notes from the Foodguy:

This is a 3 mile circular through Clough Wood from Winster. In the Spring there are spectacular swathes of bluebells carpeting the woodland beneath the trees. In the Autumn, it's a treasure-trove for fungi-lovers.

It is a dog-friendly walk. Ted was off-leash most of the way around on this occasion. We met stock (sheep) briefly as we crossed the corner of a field toward the end of the walk. The woodland is popular with walkers and dense enough in places to limit visibility, so be prepared to recall your dogs at short notice to avoid inflicting them on others :) Before heading home, we called at The Old Bowling Green in Winster for a drink and were made very welcome.

Oh boy! We had a fab walk today! Both the Foodfolk came so I got goodboyed twice as much and I had double schnackos! I was off my lead most of the way so I didn't even mind too much when the sky started chucking white stuff at me.

Notes from the Foodguy:

This is a short circular of just under 3 miles that I've been doing since I was a boy.

The route follows public rights of way for its entirety. There is a short section of steep downhill and uphill but the rest is relatively easy going. The path by the Hockham Brook can be muddy in places and there is a popular picnic spot by the brook as you near the Wash where you are likely to meet people and other dogs during good weather. You will encounter stock so sensible close control of your dogs is a must. The stock will almost certainly be sheep and perhaps horses. I haven't seen cattle near this route in years.
