John Michael Hird BMus(Hons)

Born in Lincolnshire, the heart of England, John began learning the violin and at the age of 8. by fourteen he was awarded a county talented musician scholarship. Leading most youth orchestras and ensembles within the county he was then awarded a scholarship to continue his studies at Birmingham Conservatoire, switching to viola at the age of 20, he currently studies

with Victoria Wardman. As a violist, he has played in public master classes for such players as Maxim Rysanov, Roger Chase and has been coached by some of the finest pedagogues and performers in the world; Thomas Reibl, Luis Muniz, Dr. Louise Lansdown, Robin Ireland, Zoe Beyers, Susanne Stanzeleit, Pavel Fischer, Martin Outram, Lucy Russell and Blazej Maliszewski. Whilst studying at Birmingham Conservatoire Johns' interest in historical performance allowed him the opportunity of working with Baroque and early music specialists such as Martin Perkins, Kate Fawcett and Margaret Faultless playing on historical instruments and bows from different eras. As an aspiring orchestral musician, John held the position of principle viola within the CBSO Youth Orchestra (2013-15), allowing him the opportunity to play some of the notable orchestral viola solos including Strauss Also Sprach Zarathrustra, Le Bourgeois gentilhomme Suite and Mahler's Symphony No. 1. John has also taken part in the CBSO Orchestral training scheme, Welsh National Opera Side-by-side scheme and was the 2015 winner of the Herbert Lumby Prize for violists. John currently plays on a modern 15 3/4” Christopher Rowe viola made in 1996.

Packages available;
Instrument hire + 1 lesson per month = £50.00
Instrument hire + 2 lessons per month = £70.00
Instrument hire + 3 lessons per month = £80.00
Instrument hire + 4 lessons per month = £100.00

+ £20.00 per lesson thereafter.

All lessons are one hour long, and can be split.

Lesson only prices;
30 minutes = £15
1 hour = £25
