Super proud of Beth tonight!

Beth has her Horse Care and Riding Tests on Saturday and came to me for a top up before the big day. She rode Fin beautifully this evening and we had a little jump - unfortunately their timing didn’t quite match on landing and Fin’s zoomie side came out 🫣

Despite a parting of ways, Beth and Fin were reunited and with new determination and stability they absolutely nailed it!

Anybody can fall off, not everybody will get back on. And as us old folk say - you haven’t learnt to ride if you haven’t fallen off!

Good luck Beth, I’m sure you’ll do just fine!!

Super proud of Fin today - cracking round in the 65cm at his first Eventer Trial taking a well earned 🥈😍

Sadly the busy weekend caught up with me by our second round in the 80cm and I let him down in the show jumping but he tried his heart out and despite 2 poles in the show jumping gave me a foot perfect ride cross country!

Well I wasn’t expecting that!

Thrilled to bring home a 4th place with Arctic Fox today from his first showjumping outing!

We didn’t have the best luck last time we tried to go out but this has truly made up for it! What a little legend!

I put a lot of pressure on myself today, I was desperate to enjoy it and take the next step in falling in love with this horse but I needn’t have worried - he was an absolute legend from start to finish both on the ground and ridden. Looks like he might be filling Humphrey’s shoes more than I ever dared hope 😍.

Our real journey starts here and after today I can’t wait!

Thank you Stuart Turner for ‘grooming’ for me, Julia Carson and Neil Carson for keeping him safe (not an easy feat at the moment’, Lydia Brown for helping me keep him fit and Animals First for keeping him fed and healthy!

Not exactly the day I had planned but that’s horses for you!

Trailer packed, kit ready, course walked, horse bathed, new car loaded and even managed to rope in the family to groom for me …

I arrived at the yard with delight to find Fin the same colour as I left him last night before spotting a wound on his leg. Closer inspection meant it was a cancelled event, family stood down and the vet called.

6 stitches, trimeds and bute later I headed to the even to support and while Fin’s sedation wore off.

Laura had a really positive day getting Toby home in both the 65 and 80 with a few novice hiccups. Molly took Freya round the 65 with class and picked up a win! Well done both of you!!

For me it’s an afternoon on the sofa, 10 days nursing Fin’s wound with fingers crossed nothing structural is damaged and then preparing for the next event!

Thank you for helping me get him ready, sorry he had other idea today!! Also thanks to for coming out on a Sunday morning and fixing him up!!

Fin is absolutely loving his new feed and wants everybody to know about it!

As I’ve said before, the guys @ animalsfirstuk couldn’t be more helpful and really do put the animals first!!

Fin is on Digest and is thriving despite the lack of fresh grass. He’s bright and alert and wanting to work without being silly or ‘hot’.

The ‘Jonathan’s’ regularly check in with me to make sure he is happy and are on hand to answer any questions or concerns.

How true this is!

Equestrians are often guilty of negative thoughts which transfer so quickly to our horses.

It’s time to believe in yourself and think positively …

I had the pleasure of teaching in the most beautiful spot this morning and it reminded me just how much I love it!

Pony and rider are absolutely lovely and a joy to coach. They both listen well and work so hard, great things to come for this pair I’m sure 🤩

And to top it off, Skippy has THE best moustache ever!!

New Beginnings!

Today Fin and I did something I never thought was possible … we stood on our own 6 feet!

Leaving my comfort zone after the best part of 30 years was a huge decision and has played havoc with my anxiety but I’m pleased to say he’s super happy in the paddock with his new friends.

Sometimes in life things change and what was perfect before doesn’t suit your changing life. Work commitments, childrens routines and family life are just a few of the things that change your needs. Sticking with what you know is the easiest option but not always the right one.

Changing things doesn’t erase the memories or mean they were never right - friendships will remain and bonds won’t be broken. Don’t be afraid of finding your new perfect, even if it’s not what you have ever imagined before.

Hopleys has been a lifeline for me and I will never forget or be anything but grateful for that. I’ve learnt so much, lost so much and gained so much in the last few years and because of that I’m strong enough to make a positive change to suit my family better.

So here’s to the future and all that it brings, new adventures, new friends, new mistakes and new memories!
