Flempton Golf Club

Flempton Golf Club Flempton Golf Course, established in 1895, is a hidden gem amongst the Suffolk countryside.

The heathland course features traditional pine trees and gorse, intermingled with mature English hardwood lies in a gently sloping landscape. The course offers plenty of opportunities to test playing skills with eighty bunkers strategically placed over the course. Temporary greens are rare due to the free draining light land allowing year round enjoyment. These superb greens are the envy of other

clubs and remarked upon by so many guests. The clubhouse is of traditional architecture, sited to take advantage of the view overlooking the 1st tee and 18th green and offers a chance to relax and unwind. Excellent catering facilities are provided and a warm welcome is extended to visitors. Flempton golf course is adjacent to Lackford nature reserve and lakes which attract a local population of wild life; with kingfishers particularly encouraged by specific planting near the lake adjacent to the fifth. Close to the market town of Bury St Edmunds, Flempton golf club has maintained its traditional ethos and is regarded as one of the finest 9 hole courses in the country.

We are sad to hear of the loss of Paul Rackham who was a prominent Flempton member for many years - he loved and enjoyed the club to the full. His grandson, Ben Mason lowered the flag to half-mast in his honour early this morning. Our thoughts are with Paul’s family and friends.

Yesterday, the Ladies played in their annual Grannies’ trophy competition.

Playing 18 holes from the blue tees it was great fun. We were joined at tea time by some long standing members as it has always been a tradition to enjoy tea together after the match.

There were some great scores but the candlesticks were won by Debbie on countback from
Pippa with 42 points.
