Thank you for all the enquiries we’ve had about fishing during the coming month of lockdown.
To clarify we are planning to stay open though we must please ask that all fishermen/ visitors obey the government guidelines. You may meet one person outside of your family bubble if you are out and about but only if you are on your own so a max of two people together. We would ask that you please consider others at all times. We will be open from 0630 am till 16.30 (earlier finishing due to nights having drawn in) for day fishing and night fishing starts at 16.30 pm through for 24 hours and is only available via prior arrangement in a text.
Thank you for those who have added their catches in recent times and please once again look after the lakes when you visit. Please Take your rubbish home as we don’t need to have to clear up after you and respect each other and the rules of the lakes.
Many thanks

We are currently seeing some ignorant and abusive comments on the Hawstead Place Fishing and catch reports page as well as this page and I would ask you all to remember that the page was set up to report what has been going on at Hawstead Fishing lake. If you don't have something sensible or positive to add please refrain from making abusive comments about other fishermen's visits who all appear to be enjoying their fishing at the lake regardless of the size of fish they do or don't manage to catch.

Interestingly we are seeing very little litter being left behind and the lake has a great feel and atmosphere amongst visitors to it and is doing well without many of the the self-labelled experts who have not been visiting recently yet continue to post abusive and ridiculous comments at other folks expense. Please do everyone a favour and take your business and comments elsewhere as they are not welcome on this forum or at the lakes.

We remain open and welcome those who wish to fish and enjoy the lakes and all they offer at this difficult time for many.

With thanks for your understanding

Hi this is Paul, fished the lake on Wednesday evening. I had a 23lb 13oz, my first twenty so very happy. As I am sure you know the carp started spawning on the Thursday morning so I went home, but had a great fish. Even saw 2 grass snakes swimming in the lake, not seen that for a long time.

We’ve had several early twenties out this last week and admittedly some much quieter days but the weather is warming up and the fish are sporadically spawning so won’t be long before things have fully settled back down

Good morning all,
well I think that Boris has now allowed us the chance to open the lakes again. There will be rules that we must all accept and I would ask you please to only have one person on a swim. (Unless from the same household) bring hand wash with you and make sure you consider everyone’s safety first and foremost.
Please use the normal payment system and as always it’s pay before you set up.
We will reopen this morning from 9am.
Night fishing as always by pre booking and the charge will rise to £20 for 24 hours.
Keep safe and please respect each other’s safety.
Many thanks

I'm sorry but we will be closing the lake for the time being due to the Corvid 19 virus. Not my wish and I appreciate that this is not what you fishermen want but we have a responsibility to ensure the safety of all in society so must take the right line. Keep safe all of you and we will update again as soon as we are able to re open. Best

Thank you all for your patience during what has been a testing couple of months. The lake and fish appear in good order again and despite still having low water levels due to lack of winter rainfall we will open again with immediate effect. You will notice on visiting that we have had a tidy up around the banks and would continue to appreciate you clearing up any rubbish you have and enjoying the lakes. The Environment Agency will carry out a stock survey this winter coming but we still have good numbers of stock generally and it appears plenty of large carp to have a go at.. Tight Lines!
