A week on from the course" Kihon to Kumite" i am still getting great feedback .
Both Shihan Andrew Turner and myself loved teaching on it covering various points about the transition between Kihon to Kumite .
How The standing Kihon leads to Ido Geiko and the relationship between stances for timing and distance conrol for the arms and legs .
How Ido Geiko leads to combinations and therefore to Kata.
How Kata , broken down, leads to the concepts of the moves and how they work which leads to Sanbon / Ippon kumite that utilise distance for attacking and defending and observance of your attacker or the defender to see how the moves would carry on .
Sanbon / Ippon kumite leads to Yaksoku kumite where the principles of kihon can be used in Kumite No Kamae( kumite dachi) in an arranged format and the lessons about timing , distance, observance can be utilised
Yaksoku kumite leads to Jiyu Kumite where the students put into practise their own attacks with no prearrangement but control against injury
Jiyu kumite leads to Jissen kumite when tournaments can be
entered and the skills learnt for tournament can be used in full contact . A trust in your skills develop more.
Jissen kumite can lead to a greater understanding of self defence having faced full contact attacks and the Trust in yourself and your skills leads to a greater calmness in the face of adversity. Calmness leads to a more peacefull life .
We will be holding another course later on in the year ( sept ish)
But the course subject has not been decided yet.
This will be open to all Kyokushin groups. At this last one we had students from 7 different groups .
ALL ARE WELCOME .
