Join our supportive, friendly and fun family of Dancers, Acrobats and Aerialists 🤸‍♀️. Platinum Dance Academy is the first dance school based in Bury St Edmunds that specialises in Street Dance. Starting as just 1 class in July 2010 we have gone from strength to strength and now offer classes from 4 years up to and including adults. Founder and coach Lorna Thompson prides herself on teaching engaging and energetic classes that focus on the foundations of Street Dance. Styles include: Locking, Waacking, Hip Hop, House, Voguing, Breaking, and Dance Hall. P.D.A dancers have gone on to compete at the UDO World Street Dance Championships for 5 years running. Have trained with Diversity at their studio, performed at the o2 in London as well as many other venues. We hold regular performances at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds as well as performing at local community events. We also offer lessons in Contemporary dance from beginners to intermediate/advanced level. I have put up some training slots for those competing in our aerial competition in November

You don't have to book a slot if you are competing, it's completely optional.

If you want the extra training you can either book a semi-private 1 hour session (2 people training) or an Open Training session (6 people training)

The semi private sessions are more one 2 one coaching sessions and Open Training is pretty much having the time to yourself to work out what you would like to do but I will also be there to assist everyone.

I have put up 2 dates so far as I'm not sure how many people will want the spaces but I can probably add another evening if needed. We will also be practicing in class time.

Trial students. Please remember to book in for your classes after your trial asap to avoid disappointment. We cannot hold spaces and have a huge number of new enquiries.

In-House Aerial Competition Entries so far...

Hoop - 16 entries
Silks - 7 entries
Sling - 2 Entries

I have space for a few more if anyone else was thinking of entering. I will be closing entries soon so that I can organise grouping accordingly. Please don't be put off because you feelinlike you are too much of a beginner as I will be grouping people with other students their level.

I will be offering 1to1 sessions as well as open training over half term to those who want it and we will also be practicing routines in class time.

Be sure to finalise your song choices asap so we know what we are working on.

Lily will be coming down again to judge.
