Hi,

I don't post a lot at all, I just do what I do but when I receive comments such as the one below, it just reminds me of why I've entered the fitness industry after the leaving the military.

"It all started in 2019 when I bought Person Trainer gift vouchers from Sean for my husband as a Christmas present. My husband soon saw great results by losing weight and having a more positive mindset (ok then first lockdown happened). I used to be relatively sporty but since having two children, I had not done any exercise for eight years. After the first lockdown I decided that it was time to try a healthier lifestyle and went to see Sean. Sean is very professional but friendly PT and he knows his stuff. He makes me work hard, pushed my limits and he is not shy to tell me some home trues but in a good way. Exactly what I need from time to time. Sean also is incredibly accurate to make sure that all movements are done correctly which is so important. After the first session I thought I would be sick but ever since I can tell the great progress I have made in less than a year and I am still going. I feel more energized, more positive, and a lot fitter and stronger. I now enjoy going for a run without running out of puff. Sean is incredibly good at motivating and encouraging me when I find it a struggle. No routine is the same, so I never get bored of it. I do a mix of cardio and strength. Due to the pandemic Sean has successfully done several social distanced sessions outside in the field with me (all safe and following government guidelines). He has also done several virtual sessions with me where all my family including my two children have joined in (age 3 and 7). We all love it. I would happily recommend Sean to anyone, old or young, who would like to get back into exercising, feel fitter and have a great energy boost in their lives."

Why Choose Coops?
I have to advocate for Sean Cooper as a Personal Trainer as I have had such amazing results with him, where I have failed with so many other Personal Trainers in the past.

Why is Coops different?
I came to him with no self-confidence at all. I was petrified at the thought of walking into a gym at my size and Sean kindly met me in reception the first couple of times, which really helped. Full of self-loathing and unable to even climb a flight of stairs at work, I hated the gym, hated diets and was prepared to fight him every step of the way. Coops has a motto – “it’s not me it’s you that’s doing it and you can do it if you believe in yourself”, repeating this mantra to me every time I trained with him I slowly began to believe in myself and my abilities to train. He has an amazing non-judgemental attitude and his encouragement knows no bounds even when I could only manage 2 minutes on the stair master he never judged me and praised me for every step I took.

No Pain No Gain?
Before I trained with Coops I was a victim of chronic pain and chronic fatigue. As I got to know Sean better and witnessed his competence and confidence as a Personal Trainer I allowed myself to go with the flow trusting him completely with my injuries. Sean would never compromise my old injury and was very knowledgeable about what I needed to do to improve my core strength. Alongside this Sean would push me well outside of my comfort zones with amazing results. I learnt to not be so frightened of pain and what pain could be expected when exercising with an old injury and slowly but surely my Chronic Pain is improving. I disclosed to Sean that I had a long standing dependency to Pain Killers, Sleeping Pills and Antidepressants. I am pleased to say that I no longer take any of them and can now comfortably walk up a large flight of stairs. That’s the amazing benefit of exercise.

The Importance of Goals
Sean told me right from the get go to set some realistic goals that he could use as motivator, and motivate me he has. There have been days when I really couldn’t face training but thanks to Sean I always left feeling better. Weight loss was not one of my goals as I was not prepared to change my eating habits but as I got fitter this became a natural progression and with my much improved self-confidence I joined a slimming class supported by Sean every step of the way as he checked in with me on “weigh-ins” and I am now nearly two stone lighter thanks to Sean’s relentless motivation and encouragement. So my realistic goals were to be able to climb the stairs without “dying” and to get on an aeroplane this September without having to make the shameful request for a seat belt extension – I am confident we have exceeded that goal – watch this space!

Coops has saved my life – Literally!
When I signed up with Sean I was fully aware that I was one step away from the beginnings of Heart Disease and Diabetes with an extensive family history of Stroke and Heart Disease in addition to having been morbidly obese for over 20 years I feared that I was beyond repair. Sean has shown me the benefits of exercise and the difference that employing his services has made to me as a “gym phobic”. I now see this as a long term investment for myself and I am happy to commit to Coopers Functional Fitness for the foreseeable future.

I started the gym with the aim to get fit and lose weight, everyone’s goal.

A week in after following fitness things and reading about diets, I realised I had a goal I needed help with.

On seeing Sean in the gym training his clients, I decided to speak to him about how to get to my goals. After a chat, a couple of sessions a tailored training programme that targeted everything I asked and a change in eating, I’ve smashed my goals and now onto the next.

I recommend Sean to anyone who wants to achieve his or her goals, as I have following an amazing programme.

Since leaving the Military nearly 4 years ago and starting a new career as a Personal Trainer, I’m chuffed to announce that I’m in a position, both experience and business wise to take on a new young personal trainer.

Kate Fayes will be starting on the 3rd May working under the umbrella of Coops Functional Fitness. Not only is this an expansion of my business, which I’m proud of, but it also to help a young up and coming PT get a foothold into this rewarding Industry.

Well thats the end to another successful year as a PT. Four more career development courses successfully completed and the first steps taken towards my UK Strength & Conditioning Accreditation. Whats most pleasing and satisfying, it's been another great year with all my clients. A massive congratulations to them all, for all their gains and achievements throughout the year. As they're all staying on with me next year, with some old characters returning, I look forward to helping them all reach new goals or as they continue to strive towards current ones. Here's to a fitter and healthier 2016.
