A message from the chairman, Adam Gallop.

“Dear All,

With great sadness I write that Alan Beazer passed away at the weekend.

Alan was a playing member of the club in the 1970’s, through the 80’s and early 90’s before injury cut his playing career short. I remember him as a courageous batsman and fielder, never frighted to throw himself about on the field. Most of his playing career pre-dating play cricket, and he was a better player than the stats suggest!

He became exceptionally well known and loved across the region when he moved into umpiring. He was fair, consistent and charming with his distinctive soft West Country accent fondly imitated by many.

Alan was a committee member at the club for many years and former treasurer.

Once he hung up his umpires coat for the last time Alan became a keen supporter of the club once more, and ever present on Saturday’s and a keen follower of the youth section for which he always gave an annual donation towards.

Saturday teams will observe a minutes silence as a mark of respect for all he did for the club and region in cricket.

Our love and thoughts are with his family, as for a final time he calls Ooover!”

Yesterday we held an Open Morning for juniors, and ladies & girls softball! 🥎

There were 2 separate groups, a junior session where we had 15 new juniors give cricket a try for the first time!☝️

We also ran a ladies and girls softball session, this was the first session for this new team that we are looking to run this summer!🥎
