Public Consultation on Proposed Shotgun Law Changes

The Government has announced a public consultation on proposals to bring shotguns under the same legislation as Section 1 fi****ms. If adopted, these changes could significantly affect the shooting community and the wider gun trade, including the requirement to obtain police permission before purchasing a shotgun and potential restrictions on authorised land use.

Trade bodies warn that a large proportion of certificate holders may choose not to renew, which could lead to substantial impacts on businesses across the sector.

As this will be a public consultation, all certificate holders and those involved in shooting sports will have the opportunity to submit their views. Livens Gun Shop encourages everyone eligible to participate once the consultation opens and to consider writing to their local MP to ensure their concerns are represented.
