The Ladies travelled the short distance to face local rivals Stapenhill Ladies for their final game of the season, with the hosts playing their penultimate fixture of the campaign.

It was a fairly even opening half on a difficult pitch where the uneven bounce caused problems for both sides throughout. The Ladies started brightly and nearly took the lead inside the opening 15 minutes, with both Izzy and Lucy N going close after some promising attacking play. Despite the difficult conditions, both teams tried to play good football and chances were limited for long spells.

As the half looked destined to end goalless, the Ladies pushed players forward late on and almost bundled the ball home following a goalmouth scramble. However, Stapenhill reacted quickly on the counter attack and broke upfield with a three-player overload, finishing well on 43 minutes to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

With 17 players available and it being the final game of the season, we made full use of the squad, introducing four changes at half time to give everyone valuable minutes. Unfortunately, the hosts doubled their advantage just seven minutes into the second half, although the stoppage at least allowed players to take on much-needed fluids in warm conditions.

To their credit, the Ladies never let their heads drop and continued to battle. Their reward came midway through the half when the Stapenhill goalkeeper spilled the ball while trying to run down the clock, allowing Tanisha to react quickest and poke home at the second attempt to make it 2-1 and set up a tense finish.

The game then became end-to-end, with the Ladies pushing hard for an equaliser while also needing some determined defending at the other end. The back line stood firm and Evie 🧤 produced important saves to keep the team in the contest. Despite their efforts and determination, we just couldn’t quite find the goal the second-half performance deserved.

A huge effort from all involved though, with the Ladies leaving absolutely everything out on the pitch in the final game of the season.

We remain towards the lower end of the table, but there is huge pride in the group and the progress made throughout a challenging season. With uncertainty still surrounding league structures next season and possible teams folding, the future is not yet fully clear.

One thing that is certain, however, is that this is a fantastic group of players who continue to work hard for one another, and the club will keep striving to give them more opportunities and exposure to game situations to help build confidence and continue their development going forward.

The ladies produced another strong performance to secure a hard-earned 1–0 victory over Buxton.

The ladies started brightly and were on top for much of the first half, creating the better chances. Maisie coming closest to breaking the deadlock early on, seeing a well-worked opportunity narrowly miss on 7 minutes. Despite our control, Buxton remained a threat on the counter, breaking forward well on a few occasions. However, our solid back line, alongside Evie in goal, stood firm throughout. Buxton did have the ball in the net once, but the effort was correctly ruled out for offside, leaving it goalless at the break.

The ladies came out strongly again in the second half and quickly forced a corner within three minutes of the restart. Although the initial delivery was cleared, the ball fell to Ruby at right-back, around 20 yards out. She struck it first time with confidence, and the effort proved too much for the keeper, giving us a deserved lead.

From there, we controlled the game well, limiting Buxton to very few opportunities. Shell thought she had doubled the lead on 75 minutes, only to see her goal ruled out again from what we could see was the right decision, but it didn’t take away from another dominant showing.

It was another excellent team performance, with a squad of 16 allowing for valuable rotation, supporting tired legs and giving some of the U18s further exposure to open-age football. The group continues to grow and push forward in the right direction.

🏆 Player of the Game: Charlotte 🏆A superb display at the heart of the defence—strong, composed, and equally effective going forward when needed. A complete performance.👏🏻👏🏻

Tough result for the Ladies in a closely contested game against Hilton.

The first half was evenly matched, with both sides battling hard but creating few clear chances. Hilton made theirs count though, scoring twice from their only real opportunities to take a 2–0 lead into the break.

We came out in the second half with real intent and determination, taking control of the game and putting Hilton under sustained pressure. The hard work paid off on 55 minutes when Maisie reacted well in the box to finish and pull one back.

From there, it felt like the equaliser was coming. We created the better chances and pushed Hilton all the way. A huge moment came when Izzy raced through onto a perfectly timed ball, only to be controversially flagged offside.

Despite a strong finish and relentless pressure, we couldn’t quite find the goal our performance deserved, with Hilton holding on for the win.

A performance full of effort, resilience, and quality — the group can feel very unlucky not to take something from the game.

Unfortunately, today’s result confirms our relegation to Division 3 next season. It’s a tough moment, but this squad has real belief, and with everyone sticking together, we’re confident of regrouping, rebuilding, and coming back stronger 💪

🏆 Player of the Game: Bianca An outstanding performance across multiple positions — her decision making, effort, determination, and attitude were top class 👏⚽️🐝❤️

Ladies travelled to face Sleetmoor on the 3G surface and produced a spirited performance, with plenty of positives to take despite the final scoreline.

The first half was a tight and competitive affair, with both sides battling to gain control. Ladies took the lead on 23 minutes when Shell struck the post with a driven effort, and Izzy reacted quickest to slot home the rebound. Sleetmoor responded well and equalised on 36 minutes with a superb long-range strike that gave Tanisha no chance.

We then showed great character to hit back almost immediately. Shell turned provider, threading a pass through for Izzy, who raced clear and calmly finished to restore the lead just a minute later. However, Sleetmoor weren’t done and grabbed a second just before half-time with a well-taken headed goal, sending the teams into the break level at 2–2.

The second half proved more challenging for ourselves, with the next goal always looking crucial. Sleetmoor started strongly and enjoyed long spells on top, eventually taking the lead on 50 minutes. Further goals followed on 57 and 79 minutes as the hosts capitalised on their momentum.

To their credit, the Ladies never gave in and continued to push forward. Their efforts were rewarded five minutes from time when a free kick into the box fell kindly to Shell, who made no mistake in converting to pull one back.

Despite the 5–3 defeat, there were clear positives for us. The squad featured 16 players, including several Under-18s, and the continued integration of these younger players is a real positive as they gain valuable experience and continue to develop within the team.

The Ladies faced a tough challenge away at Gresley 1sts at the Moat Ground, with the hosts making full use of the slope advantage in the first half.

We opted to play up the slope early on, but Gresley started strongly showing why they currently sit at the top of the league and took an early lead whilst going downhill. A difficult spell around the 15-minute mark saw three goals conceded in quick succession, leaving us with a real uphill battle. Despite the scoreline, Evie produced a number of outstanding saves to keep the game from getting further out of reach, with the teams going into half-time at 4-0.

The message at the break was clear—use the slope, start strong, and fight for the first goal. The ladies responded well and began the second half on the front foot, but it was Gresley who struck again on 55 minutes. Evie continued to impress between the sticks with several excellent saves, but her afternoon was unfortunately cut short following a heavy collision with a Gresley forward, leaving her with what could have been a serious facial injury.

As has become a familiar show of commitment, Tanisha stepped in to take over goalkeeping duties for the final 30 minutes.

The Ladies efforts were rewarded with a well-worked goal, with great contributions from Cait, Izzy W, and Lucy N to get the team on the scoresheet. Gresley added a late goal to bring the final score to 6-1.

Despite the result, there were clear positives. The squad included five U18 players, all of whom contributed, and the team showed great resilience and determination throughout, never giving up in difficult circumstances.

🏆Today’s POTG v Gresley🏆
Today’s player of the game is shared and are both U18 players and both had great games today.
🏆POTG- Evie W 🧤🏆👏🏻some great saves during the game and showed her bravery diving at the feet of the Gresley forward to sadly end her afternoon with a bloody nose.
🏆POTG-Georgia🏆👏🏻
Georgia played a number of positions today and was always looking to get on the ball and try and bring others into the game and put in a really strong performance

Match Report | Away at Belper ⚽️🐝

The ladies were on the road again this week, this time travelling to Belper for another important fixture against a team around us in the table.

With only 12 players available (down from 16 last week), we knew it was going to be tough. Unfortunately, that quickly became 11 before kick-off due to a late illness, leaving us short from the start.

Belper began brightly as expected and took the lead in the 7th minute after we couldn’t clear a corner, allowing their player to fire a diagonal shot into the far corner over Evie.

Just a minute later, Tanisha had to come off briefly, leaving us down to 10 players. During this spell, Belper added a second on 11 minutes with a long-range effort. Evie attempted the save but unfortunately picked up an injury that ended her game, meaning we were now 2–0 down and without a keeper.

Showing incredible team spirit, Tanisha stepped up, put on the gloves, and went in goal for the remainder of the match 👏🏻

With 10 players, it was largely Belper pressure in the first half, especially with the wind in their favour. However, the ladies kept battling 💪 and even managed a few chances on the break, with Maisie coming closest.

HT: 2–0

The second half saw a much more even contest, with the wind now helping us push higher up the pitch. Every player continued to work hard, supporting each other and giving everything.

After 15 minutes of the second half, we were unfortunately reduced to 9 players, meaning a tough final 30 minutes. As fatigue set in, Belper managed to score their third with 20 minutes remaining.

From that point on, the team showed incredible resilience, holding out for the final 20 minutes without conceding again 👏🏻

FT: 3–0

Massive credit to Belper for the win, but huge pride in our group today. To play:
• 11 players for 10 minutes
• 10 players for 50 minutes
• 9 players for 30 minutes

…is an unbelievable effort from everyone involved 💪⚽️🐝

Special Mentions 👏🏻
• Kira for bringing boots for Bianca (who forgot hers! 🤣)
• Tanisha for stepping up and playing 80 minutes in goal
• The whole team for turning out and battling in miserable conditions

Player of the Game 🏆
🏆 Cait 🏆

Cait played her first full 90 minutes in ladies football today—and she was outstanding 👌 We’ve tried to ease her in, but today proved she didn’t need it! She held her own throughout, even taking a ball to the face… only for the ref to give handball 🤦‍♂️

Huge well done, Cait 👏🏻⚽️🐝🔥💪
