Our DHCC Ladies battled hard to earn a draw against Dunstall and keep our unbeaten start to the season alive! 🙌

Fran was outstanding, producing excellent bowling figures, finishing as our second-highest scorer with the bat, and showing incredible determination after taking a ball to the face before still being made to run two to secure the draw! 💪👏

👏 A special mention to Courteney Hollender for stepping in at the last minute and doing a fantastic job for the team.

Another brilliant team effort from everyone involved and a result that keeps our unbeaten run going!

Your club needs you!!

Draycott and Hanbury Cricket Club are raising money this year to install a two-lane, all-weather nets facility. This resource will allow us to offer training all year round, even on wet days and match days. We will be able to offer tailored one-to-one sessions or group sessions on a consistent surface. This means that all our current and future players will get more opportunities to train safely in a state-of-the-art facility. We also hope that this new addition will attract more players to the club and really put us on the map. We have a huge target to achieve, and we have worked hard to secure several grants, but now we need your help.

We are launching a Crowdfunder this week with a target of £10,000 and if we reach £5000, Sport England will potentially match our efforts. So how can you support us?

You can make a pledge. Any amount would help us greatly but pledges of £50 and over will earn the reward of your name on our donor’s wall.

If you can’t pledge the money yourself, maybe someone in your family could do something to raise some money – for example, a sponsored swim or cycle, car washing or climb a mountain.

You could ask local businesses if they could help in return for a banner next to the new facility.

Please also attend any of our upcoming fundraising events, including the Draycott vs Hanbury fun evening on Friday 3rd July. Any money we raise from such events will be added to the Crowdfunder.

The club hasn’t run player sponsorship this year in lieu of this fundraising effort, so if you usually sponsor a friend or family member, perhaps you could donate instead.

The Crowdfunder will only run for 12 weeks, so please donate as soon as you can to help us achieve our goal. If you are a UK Taxpayer and donate with Gift Aid, we can claim an extra 25% on your donation from the government.

🏏 1ST XI RESULT 🏏

Cricket is the ultimate team game, and victories are never down to one individual. Every run scored, catch taken and wicket claimed played its part in another excellent win for the 1st XI.

That said, there are days when certain performances drag a side out of trouble, and this was certainly one of them.

At 99-9, D&H were staring down the barrel before skipper Shaun Rashid and Junaid Khan produced a remarkable last-wicket partnership worth 80 runs to take the total to a competitive 181. Shaun top-scored with 41 in an innings full of determination and character, while Junaid provided crucial support at the other end.

If that wasn't enough, Shaun then led from the front with the ball, producing a superb spell of 7-32 from his 10 overs as Breadsall were bowled out for 139.

A true captain's performance, but one built on the resilience, effort and contribution of every player who took the field.

🏏 SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT | RECORD CHASE SEALED AT THE ACTIONCLAD GROUND 🏏
What a day for the Sunday XI as D&H completed one of the club's finest run chases, hunting down a formidable 301-run target set by Fordhouses CC with four wickets to spare.
After Fordhouses posted 300/7 from their 40 overs, the chase required something special — and that's exactly what they got.
⭐ Ronnie Singh produced an innings for the ages, smashing a magnificent 156 from just 100 balls. Combining power, timing and composure, Ronnie took the game to the opposition and laid the foundation for a memorable victory. An outstanding knock that will live long in the memory.
⭐ Simon Ashmore rolled back the years with a superb spell of bowling, claiming 5 wickets and breaking a crucial Fordhouses partnership just as the visitors looked set to pull away. The old workhorse showed all his experience and determination, making an invaluable contribution on his return from injury.
Victories are built on team efforts, but these two performances deserve special recognition as D&H secured a remarkable win and capped off a hugely successful weekend for the club.
