Burntwood Victoria 1 - 0 Woodseaves

Jake Degville scores a late valley to win the game for the Vic on his competitive debut.

The game kicked off late because we forgot the nets and it seemed to slow the whole game down.

It was one of our poorest performances in a while from an attacking point of view but we still had the better chances throughout the game.

Cam looked sharp and if it wasn’t for some great goal line clearances and saves he would have had a couple today.

Huge credit James Redfern pulled off a fantastic save at 0-0 despite having little else to do through the game as the defence once again looked solid with Jack Albert Jake Trai Connor Sam and Cornes not putting a foot wrong.

The last 15 we started to crank up the pressure and had a goal ruled out for offside along with a couple of goal mouth scrambles. Jake came up with the goods though with a fantastic winner on the volley into the top corner to cap off a man of the match performance.

Max Weaver also made his debut, looked sharp and won an important header from a Woodseaves corner that had players lined up ready to equalise with the last touch of the game.

Up next for the Vic is a trip to Greenheath in two weeks time but we will likely have a friendly confirmed for next week.

Great win for the lads today against a fantastic Burntwood FC side who currently sit top of the Tamworth premiership as we extend our unbeaten run to nine games.

First of all thank you to Burntwood for the friendly. They’re a great side with some great lads involved, everyone at the Vic hopes they go on to win their league.

The whole team was absolutely fantastic today. Jack and Albert at centre half won every header and every challenge in the game with Shippo and Trai putting in 10/10 performances as we restricted the opposition to only a couple of half chances throughout the game.

On the counter press we looked dangerous for the whole 90, with debutant Jake Degville, Jake Homer and Sean Wallis winning the battle in the middle of the park.

When we won the ball, Cam, JW9 and Connor looked dangerous and punished the opposition with two superbly taken goals. These lads also grafted defensively and did the hard yards making us difficult to beat.

We went on to beat burntwood with only funky and an injured Mike on the bench to give our lads and the rest of the teams in our league a reminder of the quality we have.

In reality our season was made difficult by lads leaving earlier in the season at a time during an important league and cup phase but collectively the team has grouped together and become a tougher opposition on the otherside.

Great work today from the whole team but special mentions to Jack, Albert, Josh Wall for outstanding performances and to James & Jake D for performing so well on their debuts. Additionally to Connor Bartlett for captaining the team to a great win.

Apologies to all supporters, players and opposition for being so quiet this season we have been more unorganised than ever but we will be posting going forward even if we lose!

Penkridge 2 - 2 Burntwood Victoria

A good result for the lads but can’t help feeling we should have had all three points.

A scrappy first half led to only a few chances for either team and both teams coming in at 0-0.

Penkridge took a the lead minutes into the second half with a free kick that hit the top corner a great goal in fairness to them.

Minutes later they doubled their lead with a header that appeared to come off the post back into the keepers hands. However, the goal was given and penkridge were 2-0 up.

With 10 minutes to go we found ourselves 2-0 down but a fantastic Jake Walker finish into the roof of the net and a Sam goal drew us level. Great credit to the lads, it felt like a lot had gone against us in the game but they didn’t stop pushing.

With the last kick of the game, Oscar pulled the ball back for Tony to make the game 3-2 with a fantastic finish into the bottom corner. However the linesman flagged for offisjde and the goal was ruled out meaning we come away with a good point but everyone knows it should have been three.

Credit all round to the lads who have recovered from bad form just before Christmas and will look to compete for the league and cup going forward

Great to be back to winning ways as the lads make it four unbeaten.

In attack it was the Tony and Cam show with BoJollys not getting close to either of them. Lee and Trai also offered a threat from out wide throughout the game and they also deserve great credit.

Bojollys lived for the free kicks and long throws with some throws coming into our area from their half. Offering little else they took advantage of the weather conditions with heavy wind in particular this was always going to be hard to handle. However the back 4 commanded by Connor and Sam dealt with pretty much everything and the opposition looked lost for ideas.

In the middle of the park Sean Homer and Mike ran the game and showed great quality throughout. Creating many chances through the game.

We should have killed the game much sooner and risked dropping points like last week

All in all a great win and we move on to Penkridge away next week.

No win November is over, we only post when we’re winning!

It’s been a horrendous month for us if we’re honest, we lost some great lads to some great local teams. Initially a tough pill to swallow but they’ve all been class for the club, winning a cup and breaking scoring records we wish them and their new teams all the best for the season.

We’ve had to reset and in a tough league it’s almost impossible to do that without losing games.

Today we were back to our best though with the attack functioning creating plenty of opportunities and should have scored more

The big story of the day for us though is is the back line, Shippo, Connor, Sam, Cornes and Dale put in the best defensive performance of the season to see us through to the win but a big shout out to Josh Wall for a potential save of the season.

Frustrating game today for the Vic.

With 6 players missing we knew it was going to be a difficult one all round, Dorman’s have had a change in form and we’re not quite at our best at the moment.

We came in 3-2 down at half time, with 3 errors leading to 3 goals with the only bright spark a Mike Watts goal after a good through ball from Harv.

Second half was much better. We found ourselves on top and brought it back to 4-3 with 10 left to play.

With the last kick of the game Dorman’s equalised and we dropped two points.

Frustrating as it is, we will go again next week every player knows we’re much better than we were today but that’s just how football goes sometimes.

Next week we face top of the table Stafford in a big league game.

The Vic come from behind again to win 4-3 after being 3-1 down with an hour on the clock.

The only bright spark of a poor first hour was a brilliant ball over the top from Paul Harvey which was finished off by Joe Dewsbury Wright.

With half an hour left we didn’t even look like scoring but the lads dug in and Joe calmly set up Mike to bring us back into the game. 3-2.

A couple of moments later, Josh Brunt went on a run through 5 of the oppposition and from the edge of the area pressed the finesse button to make it 3-3.

We pushed for a winner and it came when Dan Lynskeys effort was deflected in to make it 4-3.

After that the opposition had a meltdown two lads sent off and could have been more. Their centre half decided to slide Thorpey into his van which got the lads going.

We’re through to the QF with the draw to follow shortly.
