One of our favourite moments from Saturday’s grading.

A new belt is never guaranteed—it has to be earned. It represents the listening, practice, effort and determination shown in class

It also represents resilience: overcoming hurdles, carrying on when things feel difficult and refusing to give up.

This is what gradings are all about—seeing our students feel proud of themselves and realise what they can achieve through hard work.

Saturday martial arts classes are coming to Lichfield!

On Saturday 10 October, we’ll be opening the doors to our new classes at Lichfield Golf & Country Club.

Our Mighty Matts class is designed for children aged 3–6. It’s fun and energetic, but it also helps children become more confident, improve their listening and learn how to work with others.

For the parents of younger children—what would you most like your child to get from a class like this? More confidence, better focus or simply a chance to burn off some energy?

One small win can change the way they see themselves.

To an adult, it might seem like a small moment.

A child joins in without needing reassurance.
They remember a technique they struggled with last week.
They answer with a stronger voice—or finally hit the pad correctly after several attempts.

But to that child, it can mean something much bigger:

“I did it.”
“I’m improving.”
“Maybe I can do difficult things.”

At MF Martial Arts, we recognise and celebrate these moments because confidence isn’t created by one huge achievement.

It is built through small, positive experiences that gradually change what children believe they are capable of.

One small win today can give them the confidence to face a much bigger challenge tomorrow.

They don’t have to be the best—they just need to keep growing.

It can be easy for children to compare themselves with others.

Someone else may learn a technique more quickly, have a higher belt or appear more confident in class.

But every student begins at a different point and develops at their own pace.

At MF Martial Arts, success isn’t about being better than somebody else. It’s about listening, trying again and becoming a little stronger than you were yesterday.

We celebrate the moments when a child suddenly realises:

“I can do something today that I couldn’t do before.”

Getting something wrong is simply part of learning how to get it right.

That progress builds genuine confidence, resilience and the belief that challenges can be overcome.

Bravery isn’t feeling fearless—it’s having a go anyway.

Children don’t need to feel completely confident before they try something new.

They might feel nervous. They might worry about getting it wrong. They might even need a little encouragement to take that first step.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t brave.

Sometimes bravery is simply saying:

“I feel nervous, but I’ll give it a go.”

At MF Martial Arts, children learn that mistakes are part of learning and that they don’t have to be perfect to make progress.

Every time they try, they become a little more confident, a little more resilient and a little more willing to face their next challenge.

Our new Saturday martial arts classes at Lichfield Golf & Country Club will now launch on Saturday 10 October.

All existing trial bookings will automatically be transferred to the new date.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience, but we’re still incredibly excited to welcome everyone and begin building something special in Lichfield.

đŸ„‹ Congratulations to everyone who took part in today’s grading!

We are incredibly proud of every student who stepped onto the mats and gave their very best. A grading isn’t just about earning a new belt—it’s about showing courage, commitment, determination and the confidence to challenge yourself.

Not everyone passed today—and that is absolutely okay. Sometimes we need a little more time to develop our techniques, focus or confidence before taking the next step. It doesn’t mean failure; it simply means not yet.

Every student should leave today proud of their effort and ready to keep learning. Success is not always about how quickly you reach the next belt—it’s about refusing to give up.

Well done to those who earned their new grades, and to everyone who took part. We are proud of you all! đŸ‘đŸ„‹

A grading is about more than earning a new belt—it reflects commitment, courage, resilience and the effort put in week after week. We don’t expect perfection; we want to see every student focused, positive and giving their best.

Some children walk confidently into their very first class.

Others stay close to Mum or Dad, watch quietly and need a little more time.

Both are absolutely fine.

Confidence doesn’t always begin with a loud voice or a fearless attitude. Sometimes it begins with simply walking through the door, joining in for five minutes or trying one new skill.

At MF Martial Arts, we celebrate those small steps—because every small step can become something much bigger.
