I seem to have been a bit slack at putting all our swims on here! However today was new location 8 for me, and swim 6 of my sub 10 - I’ve still got four to get in before the end of March if I want to get my badge!!

Glorious weather, around 8-9 degrees but beautiful sunshine that you could feel the warmth on your face! Water temperature a balmy 8 today so we did two laps of the course at chasewater. Great swim!

Back on track with our joint swims today 4/55 at Cliff Lakes - Open Water Swimming (Sal has an extra couple from her sea swims) but forgot to do a joint photo.

But it was one of those days where beteeen we forgot T-shirts, oddies nearly walking into the water with crocks on - all because the tropical temps went to our head

Air 13°

But we got another Sub 10 under our belts - can we get them all before the end March or will the water warm up too much 🤔

Beautiful swim today on Lee on Solent with Sean - about 12 degrees, water probably 9 degrees. Sunny, not too windy, absolutely glorious. Lots of people around, a few taking pictures of the lunatics in the water 😂😂 just lush

Swim without Ruth today - so this was my 4/55 so far - need to get a few new ones in!

Water was really warm - I didn’t go numb so that’s a result! No shivers afterwards and the start of the setting sun towards the end - beautiful and lovely!

Swim 3/55 Pillaton Hall Farm

If we thought last week was cold, this was a doozy!!

Air temperature was just 2 degrees and the water was registering in the poolside thermometer as 3 degrees although it did keep flicking down to 2, so I suspect it was just under the 3!

Ruth was hardcore as she wanted to get a polar bear swim in, so was skins only (just a swimming costume), no gloves, hat or swim socks, just a normal swim cap.

Sally did the usual of long sleeve swim costume, swim gloves and socks and swim hat.

Victoria Ann Spencer-Kibble came with us today and suffers from hypothyroid and reynauds so always uses a full wetsuit - this is definitely not cheating, it’s still a bloody cold swim - seriously hardcore! (Although in the summer I will tell her she’s a wuss 😂😂)

Sally struggled a bit with afterdrop today and has a tendency to go a bit woozy - and actually thought she was going to vomit 🤮 at one point but improved once she started to warm up properly!

Definitely a cold one today - and there is a few weeks to go until it starts warming up and it’s likely to get colder still before it does!

SWIM 2/55

Dosthill Quarry - yes we swim here regularly but it's our second location of the challenge and brr about 7 degrees in the water air temp approx 4

1 lap for Sally and 2 for Ruth as she's also taking part in the Polar Bear Challenge.

And cake - there might be a theme with cake but this was to celebrate one of swim buddies Jane grandsons 1st birthday - yes any excuse for cake.

Our first swim was New Year's Day at the New Bath Hotel and Spa near Matlock.

This is a spring fed pool which as you can see the temp was 17.5 which for us is positively topical at this time of the year - but as it's naturally heated ✅ our criteria.

A different swim as it's lanes but with the warm water and the sun on our backs it was a fabulous way to kick off our challenge.

Fab cakes afterwards at the hotel - we will be back.
