9 months of solid graft and focused coaching went into Dans’s result on Sunday at Ironman staffs 70.3!

40 minutes shaved off from his 2022 overall time with some big PR’s on his run and Substantial FTP improvements too!

It’s race week 🤩 and this one’s no tiddler

There are lots of races throughout the year but this is my BIGGIE and I can’t wait to get stuck in 🔥
Looking forward to sharing the mountain with some of the Marafun Run Club crew as we’ve all been training up for this event!

Her results speak for themselves 🤩

After not doing any training at all for 6 months following an injury I decided to approach Sam after he was recommended to me by a friend . I wasn’t sure if I would be able to run or try to achieve my goal of running a marathon , after an initial consultation with Sam I knew he was the coach for me , he put me at ease straight away and explained how we could move forward and I could achieve my goal 👍 I have a plan that is specific to me , my workouts are always enjoyable and he gives so much information not only on training but on kit , nutrition , fuelling , basically he is always available to ask any questions at all , his knowledge is incredible and he is so helpful , you can tell he genuinely wants to help you achieve your goals . He is extremely encouraging and supportive . My training has been really interesting and varied , I am blown away by how I have changed since being coached by Sam , I am fitter , stronger , faster , injury free and so much more confident and am looking forward to completing my marathon and then moving onto the next challenge , whatever that may be , I know I’ll achieve good results with Sams coaching 👍

When to do it ✅
What to drink✅
How often should you drink✅
I see and hear a lot of triathletes that struggle to drink on the bike so thought this may help

First of all what should you drink on the bike?(This works for me)
-Easy rides < 2 hours - Water/ squash
-Hot temps- Water + Electrolytes
-Rides with efforts/ intensity - 60-90 grams of carbs/ 750ml / hour
-Racing- Torq carb drink - 60-90 grams /hour

When to drink/ best times?
The key is little and often for a steady flow into the blood stream but that’s not always doable whilst out on the road
Drink on steady climbs when speed is slower
Tail winds on flat roads
Do not try and drink…
- In a strong crosswind
-Whilst descending fast
-When the climb is so steep you need to get out the saddle
-Sharp bends

Nutrition is key during a triathlon so this skill needs testing to maximise your results and avoiding bonking on the run
