Burnley Athletic Club The page for Burnley Athletic Club

We are a long established club going back many years with an OLD CINDER TRACK This was upgraded in 1998 to the present synthetic track through various joint funding's with Burnley Boys Club, Burnley United FC, Burnley Athletic Club and Burnley Borough Council. (Many said that the old cinder track was the quickest in the North West of England)

An upgrade of the Hammer/Discus cage in 2011 now allow

s us to host National competitions, this again was awarded to us through various funding's. The Clubs Coaches, Officials and Committee are all volunteers, non of them are paid for all the hard work they do in their spare time. Membership and Track Fees go toward the upkeep of the Club and the Affiliations to the various Leagues the Club competes in. Transport to and from meetings can be arranged through volunteer drivers, the Club does not cover costs of entries and transport to Open competitions or League Medal/Championship meetings. The Track and Field season runs from March to September and the Cross Country season runs from October to March so there is always something to do. We are members of various leagues:

MID LANCS TRACK and FIELD AND CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE

NORTHERN SENIOR LEAGUE - NORTHERN MASTERS LEAGUE

RED ROSE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE

and we compete in all of them. Membership numbers of Senior athletes were at an all time low in 2005,

so Burnley AC and Pendle AC joined forces to form a new team called Burnley and Pendle, wearing an all black vest, this is only for the NoEAA Senior League, in all other leagues we compete as separate clubs. At the end of the 2014 Track & Field season it was decided to

go our separate ways and compete as individual clubs (We would like to take this opportunity to wish Pendle AC all the best for the future). At the end of the Track & Field season we hold a presentation evening, this is when our Athletes are rewarded for their hard work over the past Cross Country & Track & Field season, Certificates and Trophies are awarded. This is a good time for all the Athletes, Parents, Families and friends to get together for an enjoyable social evening.

Tonight was exactly what Burnley Athletic Club is all about πŸ’™β€οΈ

Athletes, parents, guardians, coaches and volunteers all came together for our Walk / Jog / Run & Talk event as part of Mental Health Week β€” and what a lovely evening it was.

It was fantastic to see people of all ages chatting, laughing, meeting new faces and supporting one another around the track. From our youngest juniors to parents and coaches, the sense of togetherness throughout the evening was brilliant.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, joined in and helped make the event such a success. Events like this remind us that Burnley AC is far more than just athletics β€” it’s a community, a support network and a family.

Together we move. Together we talk. Together we achieve πŸ’™β€οΈ
