Peer Led Hill & Moorland Day – Ilkley Moor
Wow, what an amazing day out on Ilkley Moor with a group of very experienced and knowledgeable leaders.
As part of the Mountain Training Association Yorkshire region’s peer-led programme, we spent the day sharing ideas and experience around navigation, group management, and leadership in the hills. The discussions focused on how we can best educate and inspire the people we work with while always keeping them safe in the mountain environment.
One of the best parts of these days is the opportunity to learn from each other. Everyone brought a huge amount of knowledge and practical experience, and it was great to openly share skills, ideas, and approaches. I think it’s fair to say we all took something valuable away from the day.
These peer-led days are always great fun and are facilitated by volunteers for Mountain Training Association members. They are a brilliant opportunity for anyone working towards an assessment to practice skills, build confidence, and learn from others in a relaxed environment.
If you’re an MTA member, keep an eye on Tahdah and sign up — it’s a fantastic way to develop your skills and it’s completely free.
Thanks to everyone who came along and contributed to such a great day on the moor.
