Just before I head off to get ready for our End of Season social tonight, I thought I’d do an August round up of news and achievements!

It is good to see some of our new and younger players doing so well 🥳
Well done also to Shane for breaking through the 1000 points barrier
And Rob S is getting closer to 2000 points - maybe next month!

Our last blocks of Superstars and Teens finished on Sunday 23rd August and we’re looking forward to seeing our returning and new students on Sunday!

Looking ahead, September will see the returning of the Winter league so keep watching to see how our THREE teams do🤞🏼

⭐️SQUASH SUPERSTARS⭐️

Calling all parents of 5-9 year olds who may be interested…

With our next block of sessions beginning on Sunday morning (10-10:40), we have TWO spaces available!

The cost is £20 (first session free!) for 6 weeks of sessions with the dates being:
6th September
13th September
20th September
27th September
4th October
11th October

The sessions are led by two of our coaches and involve plenty of skill development, mini games and energy burning!

🤞🏼Looking for female squash players🤞🏼

Whilst we love the men we play with at St Peter’s, we need to see more women on the courts (I, and the other few women here) are majorly outnumbered!!

So,
⭐️If you’ve played previously and are looking for a sign to get back into squash, LET THIS BE IT!!
⭐️If you’ve never played before, but fancy a go, come and join us on a Sunday for a training session (I promise nobody bites)
⭐️If you’d like to know more, get in touch!

Available Sunday training sessions:
10am - 10:40am: Kids* (5-9 year olds)
10:40am - 11:20am: Teens* (10-15 year olds)
10am - 11:20am: Adults^ (16+)

* Kids and Teens must be prebooked. Please email [email protected] for more information and to be added to the waiting list.

^ Enjoy your first session free and then each session is £5 per week, payable by cash or bank transfer to the club account.

We also have box leagues and team league opportunities available so get involved!

📣REMINDER📣

The squash courts at St Peter’s Centre will be closed this weekend for maintenance.

This means, on Sunday 30th August, there will be:
❌ NO kids session at 10am
❌ NO teens session at 10:40am
❌ NO adults session at 10am

See you all as usual on Sunday 6th September 🥳

Squash Court Closure Notice 🏸

Please note that the squash courts at St Peter's Leisure Centre will be closed for essential maintenance from Friday 28 August to Monday 31 August.

The courts will reopen on Tuesday 1 September.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we carry out these improvements.

📆JULY UPDATE📆

July saw the conclusion of the summer league for teams 1 and 2.
Team 1 finished 2nd in Division 2 with 186 points, just 15 points behind the winners.
Team 2 had a different story, finishing bottom of Division 3 with 93 points, however the next two teams had 94 and 97 points so it was close.

On Thursday 18th August, there will be an End of Summer League tournament and I believe Rob S may be representing St Peter’s so good luck, Rob!

Following that, we’ll look forward to our three teams competing in the Winter League which begins in September.

Alongside the success of our adults, we continue to see progression in our kids and teens through our Sunday training sessions. The teens have started to include the use of blue dot squash balls in their training which is very exciting!! And our kids continue to cause chaos on the courts🤣 fingers crossed they’re all having as much fun as us three coaches are 🤪

Though I was missing from last Sunday’s Squash Teens session, it’s lovely to know I was missed when two of our teens made sure my name was still included on our glass wall ‘register’!

🪄SQUASH TEENS🪄

Excitingly, our squash teens sessions for the next block (12th July - 23rd August 2026) are FULLY BOOKED!

We cannot wait to see how our teens progress and (hopefully) continue to enjoy squash.

Justine and I have both attended a North West Women’s Squash League event tonight at Rochdale Squash Club (can you tell we forgot to take a before picture?!)

The event was organised by the lovely Sally Archibald and we were split into 5 teams of 3 (and one 4). Each member of each team then played 4 games against members of the other teams with the purple team coming out victorious.

It was my first women’s event and I really enjoyed it! So great to socialise with everybody and hopefully I’ll make it to one or two other events 🎉
