Spotted sunning itself on a log in the River Brue in Somerset while walking the river path from Highbridge to Bason Bridge. Clearly not a native but seems to be thriving.

I promised myself that I'd run this route in my 70s having last run it on my 65th. This is the first chance I've had to get out and do it since my birthday.

It turned out to be more of a Jog Walk Run event given the deteriorating state of my right knee. ( There is a 4K version on my YouTube channel.)

I've been chomping at the bit to get away in the van again for most of the year. Something unplanned generally comes along that then gets in the way. Last year it was the urgent need to repair a roof and make good the north and easterly facing walls of an investment property. This year it has been family commitments, yet more property related issues and the rain.

I've had a list of improvements I wanted to make to the van from when we first went off in it. Little things, like making and fitting a new set of modesty curtains; making covers for the self inflating mattresses; covering the bed benches in fabric to make them less slippy; modifying the portable loo storage; creating a safe cooking facility inside the van; making changes to allow for a double bed; adding better internal lights and modifying the bed extension on the left hand side so as to be able to use it as a table.

ALL of this took time, not least of which because my garage / workshop has been taken over by "stuff" that was in storage elsewhere forcing any changes to be made when it wasn't raining.

Still, one tends to get there in the end and last weekend / early part of this week was my first opportunity to get off out for a long promised run / jog / walk around Baggy Point on Sunday and into the surf over the next couple of days.

Apologies for my absence.

I’ve been a little neglectful of my channel here this last year or more. Life just gets busy in other ways sometimes so this is a little bit of a quick update on recent improvements to my Hyundai i800 camper van project.
