Corinthian Otters

Corinthian Otters Junior Sailing Club for children aged 7-18. Beginners join our pond group and learn the basics of sailing before progressing onto the River itself.

Established by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in 1930 to encourage the children of members to sail the Corinthian Otters is the largest organization for youth sailing on the Crouch Estuary and one of the biggest clubs on the East Coast. Recognized by the RYA as a sailing club in our own right we welcome all children aged between 7-18 regardless of parental membership of the RCYC. Our sailing seas

on runs from mid March to mid November each year with regular weekly sessions taking place on Saturday mornings. Once sailing on the river most children start off in Optimist dinghies and then can progress into one of many fleets we have such as Toppers, RS Tera's, RS Feva's, Cadets, RS 200's and Lasers depending on age and ability. All the trainers, shore and water based helpers are parents and volunteers who give up their time to involve themselves in the running of the club. Last Saturday’s Easter Egg Regatta brought together over twenty sailors for a brilliant morning on the water ⛵️🐣

We managed to complete one race before the wind picked up, keeping everyone on the edge of their boats!

🏆 Congratulations to our winners:

• Slow Handicap – Emily & Sebastian
• Fast Handicap – Jess & Hayden (joint 1st)

It was great to also see the Stingrays out sailing in testing weather and to welcome our new pondies to the Club.

🍫 Well done to everyone who took part in the Easter Hunt and followed the clues to find the chocolate!
