Lara smashed May, we are seeing her push herself more. Taking on Murph head to head, lifting heavier and have seen improvement in her gymnastics.

A pleasure to have in class and coach. Listens, puts in the work which is great to see!

MEMBER OF THE MONTH - NOVEMBER 2025 -SOOZ (suzanne)

Sooz is known for bringing the happiness - nothing will wipe the smile off her face, its raining we have a lot of burpees to do, crashed her car... Whatever happens she is always smiling and laughing.

She is a joy to have in the class and to coach. Her confidence in her ability is constantly growing just like her strength in her lifts!

Little bit more about Sooz....

- Joined BYS?
During my mat leave last year I joined BYS Babies run by Coach Chloe and then became a fully fledged BYS CrossFit member in March this year!

- Fun fact about you?
I travelled around South East Asia on my own for 3 months when I was 27, I had the BEST time 🙌

- Occupation?
I work in the tech world as a Senior Project Manager

- Hobbies
I love live music, I’ve been to loads of gigs and festivals including Glastonbury 4 times (best place on earth) 😁, I also love to travel and see musicals/plays at the Theatre

- Favourite movement?
A satisfying clean and jerk

- Worst movement?
Squat snatch/snatch balance I find really awkward

- 1 goal for next year?
An achievable goal I think is a decent wall walk, right now they are feable 😅

- What would you say to someone thinking about joining?
100% give it a go! I always saw CrossFit as quite an intense and difficult programme of fitness that I was too intimidated to try. I wanted to continue weight training after my mat leave and my husband who joined BYS in Jan last year encouraged me to try it. After my first week I was hooked! All exercises are scalable, the workouts are varied, the coaches are brilliant and there is a real feeling of community with organised events and shouts of encouragement during classes.
I’m feeling fitter and getting stronger because of BYS and I now watch weightlifting vids for fun 😆

MEMBER OF THE MONTH - OCTOBER 2025 -

ELEANOR BARTOLI TURNER

Eleanor or should we say Queen of the echo bike. Eleanor gives 100% effort every class and never takes the easy option! She is always on our list of top contenders for member of the month. She is a pleasure to coach, always listens, asks questions about how to progress or whats the best alternative to help her progress and as we said before gets stuck in challenging herself as much as possible.

•⁠ ⁠What would you say to someone thinking about joining? Try it - you won’t regret it! I only wish I’d found crossfit sooner. I used to really struggle with energy levels and motivation. Working out always felt like a chore, and getting through a session without wanting to quit halfway was a challenge. Now, I find myself planning my life around classes because I don’t want to miss a single one! It’s seriously addictive, especially once you start seeing progress and hitting PBs - it’s a great feeling. So go for it… you’ve got nothing to lose! 😊

MEMBER OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER -
MATT MCNALLY

Matt has been with us for a year now and is yet to purchase a water bottle instead brings what I presume is one of his children cups! 😂 Love it.

In all seriousness, Matt has improved a lot in a year but massively in this month. Gymnastic have taking the next stage with his pull ups looking impressive. His Clean and Presses have been equally impressive.

Matt is alway asking questions to see how he can improve and pushing himself 100% each time. Well deserved! keep it up.

Fun fact: I love a bit of karaoke

Occupation: Investment management

Hobbies: Most of time is taken up with the kids! I love gardening (middle aged), squash and padel, cooking (sous vide steak!)

Favourite movement: Really enjoy gymastics stuff - TTB, pull ups wall walks etc. Still new to me and loads to learn. Also working really hard on cleans at the moment and am starting to enjoy them.

Worst movement: got to be thrusters.

1 goal for next year: would love to get bmu

What would you say to someone thinking about joining: go for it! There is lots to work on in basic fitness (and you will egt fitter), but also loads of more technical stuff to learn which keeps it varied, interesting and fun. Gym is full of people who want to work hard and have fun and want you to as well.
