Our layout speaks to its era, formed in 1889 as 'Waveney Valley Golf Club' when 6 men of substance met to bring golf to Bungay. 9 holes were quickly bought into play, but just 2 years later, legendary course designer James Braid was bought in to double the size of the layout. James Braid would later return in 1906 to win an exhibition match, 6&5, against then club professional, Bob Jacobs.

The course has stood the test of time, despite temporary closure during the war, has retained it's character and charm throughout its 136 year history.

The 16th hole is a fairly innocuous looking par 4 on the scorecard, but with bunkers in the landing zones of this dogleg left to right, a coppice of trees and heathland on the right, out of bounds down the left and a green well protected on 3 sides, this can be a card wrecker. Driver off the tee is a risk, a fairway wood or iron off the tee can put you in the best position to score well.

Our Pro Shop with Chris Potter Golf is well stocked with the latest clubs and apparel! We have the latest clubs from Callaway, Ping, Taylormade and Titleist, a wide range of balls to fit all budgets, a large apparel selection from the top brands including Footjoy, Island Green, Ping, Original Penguin and Under Armour and a fantastic selection of bags and trolleys.

We offer custom fitting on clubs to ensure you buy the right clubs for your game, please call for fitting availability.

We will price match against any genuine online sites as long as the item is in stock and is like for like.

The 17th hole is the only par 5 on the mens card at Bungay and it doesn't give away many birdies. Keep away from the out of bounds from the tee, miss the cross bunkers with your 2nd and after your blind 3rd shot, find this beautifully tranquil green waiting for you. This enclosed green also offers this hole its name.

Hole #17 - Punch Bowl

The 15th is the final par 3 on the card, a beautifully framed hole that plays longer than the yardage suggests. The green slopes dramatically towards the tee whilst bunkers protect the left and right sides. There's no future going long!
