🏏 CRICKET WEEK UPDATE 🏏

Sadly, today’s Wales Over 50s 3rd XI vs Gloucestershire Over 50s 4th XI fixture has been cancelled.

Due to the Hot Weather Protocol introduced this week by the Over 50's Committee, any matches where temperatures are forecast to reach 33Β°C or higher must be cancelled to protect the welfare and safety of all players, officials, and spectators.

While it’s disappointing to lose today’s game, the wellbeing of everyone involved must come first. β˜€οΈπŸ’§

The good news, Builth Wells Cricket Week is still very much on, with plenty of fantastic cricket and celebrations still to come as we mark 175 years of Builth Wells Cricket Club! πŸŽ‰πŸ

Today we celebrate two special things at Builth Wells Cricket Club.

Father’s Day gives us the chance to thank all the dads, grandads, and father figures who have played such a huge part in our club, whether as players, coaches, volunteers, supporters, or simply the ones stood on the boundary week after week. Your time, support, and dedication help make this club what it is.

As we also celebrate 175 years of Builth Wells Cricket Club, it feels fitting to recognise the generations who have helped build our proud history. From past to present, cricket in Builth has always been about family, community, and shared memories.

Happy Father’s Day to you all, and thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to honouring the past and inspiring the future. ❀️🏏

Our Builth Wells CC 2nd XI are back in action today as they take on Tenbury Wells CC 2nd XI in Worcestershire County League Division 9 (Hereford North).

Skipper Jonny Curzon leads the side as the lads look to put in another strong performance at Garth Road. A great mix of experience and youth in the squad, with everyone ready to battle for the points on home soil.

Our **Builth Wells CC 1st XI** are on the road today as we travel to **Ledbury CC** in another big **Worcestershire County League Division 6 South** clash.

Skipper **Dylan McPhee** leads a strong squad as the boys look to keep momentum building and bring valuable points back to Garth Road. With confidence high and plenty of quality throughout the side, we’re set for another cracking contest.

🏏 Builth Wells CC Junior Section Round Up 🏏

It has been another fantastic week for the junior section at Builth Wells Cricket Club, with players of all ages enjoying cricket, developing their skills and representing the club brilliantly.

A particular highlight came last night as our junior team travelled to the beautiful surroundings of Christ College, Brecon, after kindly accepting an invitation from Brecon Cricket Club.

Batting first, Builth posted a competitive 121-6 from their 20 overs before producing a disciplined performance in the field to restrict Brecon to 103-7, securing an excellent 18 run victory.

The scoreline only tells part of the story. The game was played in a fantastic spirit throughout, with both sets of players showing great sportsmanship, enthusiasm and respect for the game. It was exactly what junior cricket should be about.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Steve Bradley for extending the invitation and to James Davenport and everyone at Brecon Cricket Club for their warm welcome and hospitality. Opportunities like these are invaluable for the development of young cricketers and help strengthen the links between clubs across Mid Wales.

The evening was another reminder of how much progress our junior players are making. From our youngest All Stars participants taking their first steps into cricket, through to our Dynamos and junior representative sides competing in matches, it is fantastic to see so many young people enjoying the game and growing in confidence each week.

Cricket offers so much more than just runs and wickets. It teaches teamwork, communication, resilience, discipline and respect, while helping young people stay active, make new friends and build confidence in a supportive environment.

None of this would be possible without the hard work and dedication of our volunteer coaches, team managers, helpers and parents who give up their time week after week. Your support is greatly appreciated and plays a huge part in the success of our junior section.
