Will all readers/followers please note that sadly the South West Croquet academy has closed down. The Pandemic didn't help, and personnel previously involved in its operation are no longer involved/available.
However, the good news is that coaching will still be available for all - directly from Budleigh Salterton Croquet Club via their Croquet College. You will need to visit their website to register and get more details. A link can be found here: www.budleighcroquet.org
As one of those who has stepped back from the SWCA due to health issues and other commitments, I wish the team at Budleigh every success with their new endeavour.

Budleigh Salterton Croquet Club BSCC is one of the premier croquet clubs in Europe. Our members enjoy social play every day of the week throughout the year. We are a friendly club and offer a warm welcome to new members.

After a year that caught us all embroiled with Covid in one way or another, it's about time to update our followers with what the SWCA will be doing in the foreseeable future.

The Chairman of Budleigh Salterton Croquet Club (our home base) recently stated the following:
" We remain committed to the SWCA. Unfortunately, in the present uncertainty, it is impossible to confirm what courses, if any, will be provided in 2021. We will, however, be taking the opportunity to review the courses that the SWCA offers, and whether any of them could be provided virtually."

If the situation improves, as we all hope it will soon, we will update our website with whatever we can offer, as soon as we can offer it.
We will be back in action, as soon as it is safe for all our delegates to comfortably rejoin our coaching programme.

The Website is now open for booking for 2020 courses and has a new look for this season. hopefully users will find it easy to navigate and find something to their taste.

My apologies for leaving it so long for an update. Lots going on away from Croquet, but now I'm free to post an update:
It's been a mixed few months with some course bookings going like hot cakes and others slow to take off.
The course run last week by Dr Tim King for budding GC referees was a a particularly resounding success for all who attended. Many thanks to Tim for the many hours of work he put into making this course so great; with a new approach to increasing delegates understanding of the course content.
Indeed the SWCA team owe a big thanks to all the Lead Coaches for their efforts. We appreciate the many hours of preparation involved in producing world class courses for our delegates.

Following on from another successful spring season of courses, and an active summer putting all that coaching into practice, the SWCA team are preparing their curriculum for the 2019 season.
We would love to hear from you if have any thoughts about "A course I would like the SWCA to run".
If the suggestion seems to capture popularity, we will seriously consider whether we can deliver it with the right coach and format.

Due to the popularity of the GC Improvers Development course (its sold out!), the SWCA have added a second course covering the same curriculum with the same lead coach. This has been scheduled-in for the 10th June and will be run by the renowned Dr. Stephen Custance-Baker. Book now while there are still places available, on this informative and enjoyable course .

Short Croquet is gaining popularity as a fast exciting game.
So, SWCA have just added a course to their list, aimed particularly at AC players in the handicap range of 16-24 who want to improve their ability to win at Short Croquet.
We already have a Short Croquet Course for players aspiring to the higher echelons of the game, so this new addition should satisfy the AC player who knows the basics of AC play but wants to discover winning ways on the Short Lawn version.

SWCA are pleased to announce our 2018 courses are now available for booking. Just visit our website at: www.southwestcroquetacadamy.co.uk to browse what we are offering and book on-line.

The beginning of our Coaching Season starts with courses for players wishing to improve their understanding of the Laws (AC), and Rules (GG) and perhaps qualify as Croquet Referees. There are also sessions for those that want to hone their own Coaching skills and gain or upgrade a CA qualification.

Following that, there are courses to guide beginners and improvers, in both AC & GC codes of the game, plus a course specifically aimed at the growing number of players who are discovering the delights of Short Croquet and want to learn how to win over the specific challenges that game presents.

We look forward to meeting our followers on our lawns here in Budleigh!
