🏏MATCH REPORT🏏

Feniton vs Budleigh u12s (15th June)

The boys enjoyed a dominant performance against Feniton this evening.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, Charlie got us to a great start with a 33 (retired), supported with Aaron (13) and Edward (25 no). Clay, Samuel and Jacob all contributed to a team total of 156.

In the field every boy contributed with the ball. Riley (13/1 off 3 and with a good run out), Jacob (4/1) off 2, including a wicket maiden), Samuel (9/1) and Freddie (13/1). As with the bat, Charlie was the pick though, with 8/2 off 3 overs. He was also on a hat trick, but bowling to a smaller and younger boy in poor light I asked him to bowl slower which may have cost him it. Sorry Charlie!

A special mention to Alfie too. Playing his first game as wicket keeper he did really well, preventing several byes and taking a good catch (with a bruised chest to go with it)

It was another really strong performance from the team and a well deserved win by 77 runs.

U15’s girls tournament (14th June)

A really good performance today against some very decent opposition. We started against Bovey and were really unlucky to lose with perhaps the only thing between the teams being over throws & Bovey taking quick singles. Great bowling from the whole team and excellent batting with ‘proper’ shots shows how well we’ve developed over the last few weeks.

Next were Ashburton where we put in an excellent performance - aggressive batting, (combined with (mainly!) good decision making in running between the wickets…) and we posted a very decent score. We then backed this up with a great bowling and fielding performance. Catches stuck (including a number of caught behinds by Bella who was playing her first game with gloves behind the stumps).

An excellent team performance and the girls should be really proud about how we coming together to make an awesome team (Felicity and Daisy M missing from picture).

Budleigh Salterton U11 girls tournament (14th June)

The girls were outstanding in both matches they played yesterday. First up was Whimple and Budleigh batted first. The first pair set the tempo with a very solid 25 which was followed up with excellent contributions down the order. 4’s were flying everywhere, with great singles and doubles being run as well. Budleigh scored an amazing 98 in just 60 balls. A young Whimple side stuck to their task but Budleigh’s bowling on the whole was accurate and very unforgiving, whilst their fielding was spot one with all girls alert and ready in the field. In the end we restricted Whimple to just 37!

The second match was shortened to 40 balls due to time constraints and the old enemy Exmouth batted first. They got off to a flyer and were on their way to a big score before the champagne moment of the match (actually it was 4 spread over 2 overs) turned the tide. With her first ball Cleo clean bowled the batter for our first wicket, next ball the batter hit it high and deep but Sienna H took a stunning catch with the sun in her eyes. A couple of balls later, Cleo got a run out, finally Ava’s bowling produced a repeat catch for Sienna H, who caught another high, deep one, facing the sun. With excellent fielding again, Budleigh were set 41 to win.

A solid opening pair saw off two top bowlers, then the next pairs in set to the run chase which they did with ease, only losing 1 wicket and ending on 56!

The improvement in all of the girls has been amazing this season and their hard work on Friday nights is really paying off. They should ALL be so happy with how they played.

The only disappointment was that Sienna B had to leave early so couldn’t finish of the best team pyramid photo we’ve ever had 😉

*U10 Softball – Match Report vs Ottery St Mary* (7th June)

Ottery St Mary won the toss and chose to bowl first.

BSCC had a storming start from the openers. Good shots all the way down the order, with Hugo, Hamish and Archie picking up plenty of 4s, mostly on the on side. That set us up with a decent total.

With the ball we opened with tight bowling from Aahaan and picked up a few early wickets. Finley was excellent in the field with 2 great catches. All-round fielding and coordination from the team was really strong.

The last 4 overs changed the game though, with OSM hitting some big shots over the boundary and taking control.

Great effort from everyone - we pushed them close. A few things to work on next session, but lots to be proud of.

A big thank you to the parents who volunteered at the drinks break and assisted with coordinating the batting pairs.
