She did it! .art with her first unassisted pull up, a goal set and worked on right from her very first workout. I’m a very proud husband right now.

with a new pb of 150kg. That’s a big number whoever’s lifting it but for someone who weighs under 60kg it’s absolutely massive! Time to run another round of the program and see where this can go!

12 ring muscle ups

I’ve been working on my muscle up volume on Fridays for a couple of months now and today retested my maximum and managed a new best of 12. I was planning to kip the dips to get the volume done quickly before my heart rate caught up with me. I forgot for the first few then remembered again. No idea if it made the difference or not but I’ll take it! Pretty happy with this.

with a new pb on the hex bar of 170kg! Over double body weight and, even more impressive, I worked it out wrong and we thought it was 165kg (which would have been a pb already).

Morning sparring with to a packed audience of birds.

Really good work! We’ve had a few months off sparring and worked instead on technique with a lot of focus on throwing left kicks to the body and head, using those as a threat to set up the rest of the strikes. This was a great example! By the end Kelley was landing all sorts of shots (including a very nice push kick I completely did not see coming until after it landed!) fun start to the day!

with a pre sunrise (than you daylight savings!) deadlift pb of 105kg.

This was so good to see! We’ve been working away over the last 2 years after a back injury to rebuild back to Beth’s previous best of 100kg. Turns out the key is to just slide plates on when she’s not looking and say nothing…

5x 3 min rounds sparring for today

Lottie is still early in her training but has taken really well to sparring, started off a few weeks ago with a little hesitancy to hit me but that’s quickly gone away! Really enjoyed this.

I went to an inter club competition in Honiton today to check it out. It’s been a very very long time since I’ve wanted to do anything like this, when I was much younger I hated the pressure and the crowd and just couldn’t get myself to do it but I’ve let the idea sneak in over the last year or so so I thought it was time.

Really enjoyed it! I will definitely be back again!

Thanks for cornering me, “yeah maybe stay out of the clinch” was solid advice!

Little partner workout with yesterday

15 min for maximum combined log overs:
1 person 2 lengths of monkey bar then run 100m, other person clearing high log, swap after run.

We did closing in on 250 combined, about 30 in I realised it was going to be horrible! Still, I’ll definitely be doing something like this again soon (and therefore so will Bernie, sorry…)
