We are based in Bude, North Cornwall and have been teaching people to surf for over 15 years. In that time we have safely and successfully introduced almost 30,000 men, women and children to our wonderful sport. So you’re thinking of learning to surf? Great! d girls, or as a group or corporate event, then you’ve come to the right place. As long as you are over 8 years old, are reasonably fit and can swim 50 metres we can teach you to surf.

🏄‍♂️ 2026 Junior Surf Academy: New Season Starts This Saturday!

Our JSA squad has been absolute legends this winter, braving some serious weather to keep surfing! Now that things are finally warming up, we are incredibly excited to kick off the new season for all levels of surfers.

We still have a few spots available, so registration is officially open for new members to join the crew!

The JSA Experience

Based at Summerleaze Bay, we provide fun, safe, and supportive coaching for groms aged 8–18. From those catching their very first wave to intermediate surfers refining their skills "outback," our Surfing England-qualified coaches use the Grom Squad Programme to help everyone progress.

Personalized Coaching: We use both "inside" and "outback" instruction to ensure every surfer gets the guidance they need.

Tide-Optimized: We vary our times weekly to make sure we’re always hitting the water during the best wave conditions.

Stay in the Loop: Registered members get a full session calendar in advance so you can plan your weekends.

Key Info

Season Kick-off: This Saturday, April 25th, 14:00–16:00.

Pricing: Once registered, sessions are just £15 per person.

Membership: Please note that these sessions are exclusively for registered JSA members.

🌊 2026 Junior Surf Academy Registration is Now Open!

We’re excited to announce that registration for our 2026 Junior Surf Academy (JSA) is officially open to new members!

Our JSA sessions offer fun, safe, and supportive surf coaching for children aged 8–18. Delivered by Surfing England-qualified coaches and following the Surfing England Grom Squad Programme, sessions cater to all abilities—from beginners to those looking to refine their skills.

Based at Summerleaze Bay, we maximise learning with both “inside” and “outback” coaching, ensuring every young surfer receives personalised guidance in a safe and encouraging environment.

This year’s sessions:
•Times vary weekly to make the most of the tides and provide the best wave conditions.
•Registered members will receive a session calendar in advance.

After a winter of focused one-on-one sessions, Big Blue Surf School is officially opening back up for group lessons starting this weekend!
