IMPORTANT! 🎉🥰
Boo tackled her first proper jumps today and we couldn’t be prouder! 😭💙 Meanwhile, Blaze joined in with some schooling round an environment she hasn’t been ridden in before as she continues her rehabilitation and is currently working at the walk and trot stage. She was working on staying relaxed with the sound of the traffic, we have found the hood helps blaze due to the sound of busy traffic. Zeus and Jammy did their first triple bar spreads and Casey built up her confidence and control with her loaner, who is still relatively new to jumping in new environments.
This week, we took our loaners and owners out of the arena and over to one of our grazing fields to work their ponies in a more open environment. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get videos of their group (slap on the wrist for us! 🙈), but for those not featured, the focus was preparing for next weekend’s show with Cheshire Horse Sanctuary. They are all looking fantastic and making brilliant progress. Although, it came with its challenges that they may not have expected - which is exactly why it was the best decision to do this lesson for them.
Working outside the arena is such an important part of a horse and rider’s education. While arenas provide a controlled environment to learn and refine skills, riding in open spaces helps build confidence, improves focus and communication between horse and rider, and prepares combinations for the different sights, sounds and challenges they may encounter at shows and events. It also gives us a great opportunity to see how each partnership works together away from the familiarity of the arena.
For the group featured here, we focused on confidence-building and assessing where each horse-and-rider combination is currently at, adjusting fence types and heights to suit each partnership and ensure positive experiences for everyone.
A huge well done to everyone involved today - riders, ponies, owners and supporters. We love seeing the progress and confidence grow with every session! 🌟
