When it comes to fitness everyone wants to progress whether that's increasing weight adding more sets and reps or a more intense technique.

What many people don't talk about is regression, that is when you have to decrease weight, less reps and set or go back to basic technique.

I'm here to tell you that it is okay and it is all part of the training process!!! It happens to everyone for any different reasons

Don't let regression bring you down, all you can do is do your best and remember everyone trains at different levels and never compare your training to someone else 😊

There are many benefits to resistance training.... too many for me to list so here are my top 5 benefits that everyone should know about resistance training

1. It improves muscle strength and tone, this will help protect your joints from injury.
2. Helps you maintain your flexibility and balance which will let you remain independent as you age
3. Improves your posture which will decrease back pain
4. Will Improve a sense of wellbeing and boost your self confidence within body image and mood
5. Prevents or controls any chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and obesity.

WHAT IS RESISTANCE TRAINING?

Resistance training (also known as strength training) is associated with lifting of weights. Not to be confused with weight training.

Resistance training happens by contracting the muscles against external Resistance, helping you increase your strength, power, hypertrophy and endurance.

There are many training techniques used when doing resistance training like isometric, plyometrics and calisthenic.

Breathing is a very important movement in daily life, we do it without even knowing it but when it comes to training its very common to hold your breathe.

Stress is added to your body when you train and holding or bad breathing will produce stress hormones, increasing the stress to your body and could lead to injuries.

When you're train your muscles work harder and therfore you use more oxygen and produce more carbon dioxide. When you train you increase your breathing to 40-60 breathes a minute that's 100 litres of air. When you are resting you only use 12 litres of air which is 15 breathes a minute.

Breathing when exercising helps with control and balance and also helps you to achieve more.

That is why it's important to breathe while you train
