Next week sees the first of the annual Buckingham River Rinses with Buckingham Town Council. Our divers will suit up to walk through the Great Ouse in Bourton Park clearing out the rubbish supported by volunteers and the Town Council on the banks. We wonder what we will find this year... 👀

Tonight sees us moving back into the pool for our club nights.

We kick off with our Monthly Member's Skills Night, but we are now in Try Dive season and it's the perfect time to sign up to learn to dive so that you can be qualified and confident ahead of next years summer holiday.

River Rinse 2026

This year's River Rinse will take place over two events along the River Great Ouse in Buckingham:

📍 Sunday 20 September: Bourton Park Car Park, 10.15am Start: 10.30am Route: Bourton Park to the Silver Bridge in Heartlands Park.

📍 Sunday 4 October: Silver Bridge, Heartlands Park, 10.15am Start: 10.30am Route: From the finish point of the first event through to Cornwall Meadow Car Park.

For over twenty years, members of Stowe Sub-Aqua Club and volunteers have carried out the annual River Rinse, removing litter from the river and helping to improve the local environment.

Wonderful weekend of deeper diving with In Deep Dive Centre . Andrew Yarlett has recently switched to a rebreather, and needs reminding that his profile is a tad higher than on sidemount. Thanks To Ben and his team for navigating the windy conditions and providing the simulated diver recall - shot line snapped with an almighty bang!!

Some friends from our dive in the Valentine Tanks yesterday. The tanks are stuffed full of marine life to explore! A great days diving had yesterday on Old Harry Drift and the Tanks.

🌊 Happy World Ocean Day 🌊

As divers we are often some of the best placed to help look after our oceans.

Fundamentally we must practice excellent discipline and skill when diving to ensure that we do not damage our ocean environment.

We can witness changes and report them, aiding the scientific community in the monitoring of our seas.

And we can fight for them. We can push for policy and legislative change to protect them.

So Happy World Ocean Day, and in celebrating these most crucial of ecosystems which sustains all life on our planet, let’s think about what we can do to give something back to our seas in return for all they give us!

Monday night saw our club nights move outside and a number of our trainees take to Open Water for the first time.

Well done to our trainees and instructor team (and supporting club members) for helping the evening go smoothly (and braving the weather)
