Thornborough Cricket Club Thornborough's legendary cricket club

Thornborough Cricket Club has been at the heart of the village for years and is proud to put out two Saturday teams and a midweek team each week. As a club we cater for players of all abilities and have a rich history of success in the South Northants Cricket League and the Buckingham & District Midweek League. Supported by the ladies and gentleman of the club and the wider community we strive for

success, aligned with a strong social scene centred around the Two Brewers pub. Keep your eye on this page and visit our website at www.tcc1.co.uk for details about how to join the club and for information on the various events the club hosts throughout the year in order to raise funds and, just as importantly, bring a sense of community to the village.

A little share of the Thornborough Roses Women's Team here at Thornborough Cricket Club, if you're on Instagram, why not give them a follow to see their season.

The Thornborough Roses took a trip to Wormsley this weekend – allegedly the most beautiful cricket ground in the UK. After spending a day there in glorious sunshine, we're not about to argue! ☀️🏏🌹

With 12 teams competing in the softball festival, we squeezed in four back to back games, including two absolute nail-biters!

There were boundaries flying, wickets tumbling and plenty of Roses magic on display. Special mentions go to Lily and Chloe, whose bowling was simply phenomenal (and who weren't shy about finding the boundary either!). Julia celebrated her first-ever catch in spectacular style and backed it up with some consistently excellent bowling.

Alice, Ru and Tamsin were their usual outstanding all-round selves, contributing spectacularly all over the field - stopping boundaries, bowling hard and batting some big hits, Santhi with some brilliant close-in fielding, she's a brave woman! With quick calls to 'run!' to sneak an extra, Pippa stepped up at the last minute and delivered what the team needed with a particularly spectacular last bowl, while I kept things tidy with some great bowling spells and a few boundaries, also learning that I really like being a wicket keeper.

Whether we were winning, losing, or trying to remember whose turn it was to bat, the fun never stopped. A fantastic day of cricket, sunshine, teamwork and memories made at one of the most stunning grounds we'll ever have the privilege to play on. Who would've guessed our newbie team would be here a year after starting up! Thank you as always to Dan our coach, who not only gives up his evenings to coach, but also his Saturday and his own playing time too!

Huge thanks to the organisers .cricket and and everyone who helped and made us so welcome. The Roses had a wicket day! 🌹💪

What a wonderful evening at Thornborough Cricket Club as All Stars and Dynamos cricket got underway for the season 🌟🏏

The sun was shining, the long shadows were stretching across the outfield, and although there was still a little chill in the air, it felt like the perfect way to spend a spring evening.

Most importantly, it was fantastic to see such an amazing turnout — children, parents, grandparents, younger siblings and friends all coming together to enjoy the fun. From first hits to big smiles and plenty of running around, the club was absolutely buzzing with energy. Not to mention the much appreciated BBQ.

Cricket is about so much more than the game itself, and evenings like this are a lovely reminder of what makes our club so special — community, family, laughter and making memories together 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, and to all the volunteers helping make it happen. We can’t wait for the weeks ahead!

The wait is over… cricket is back this Saturday!

The Thornborough Men’s squad are kicking things off with an internal practice game as we dust off the pads and get back into the swing of things ahead of the season.

If you fancy an afternoon of cricket, fresh air, and the sound of leather on willow, you’re more than welcome to come down and watch. It’s a great chance to see the lads in action and soak up that first bit of matchday buzz again.

The season is finally here… and we couldn’t be more ready. 🏏🙌

🏆 First silverware of the season… and it’s coming home with our U10s!

What a day at the Wavendon Cup 👏

From the first ball at 9:30am to the final delivery after 7pm… our young stars showed focus, energy and proper grit all day long.

It may have looked like sunshine, but those who were there know—it was freezing. That didn’t stop this group. Huge credit to the players for staying locked in across every game, and to the parents who backed them from the boundary from start to finish 🙌

A brilliant team effort, with contributions all round and a performance to be proud of. This is what pre-season is all about… and we’re only just getting started.

Big shoutout to the other sides who made it such a great tournament:

At the start of the month, some of the coaches got together for a well earned dinner to celebrate the end of a successful junior winter net season. We now look forward to getting out on the field soon as the summer season starts in earnest!

What a perfect day for field prep! The square had a long cut down to around 1 inch, the first step in getting it ready for the season, with a few more cuts to come before it’s match-ready at about 6mm.

Plenty more work ahead, but it’s already looking fantastic thanks to everyone who’s mucked in. Safe to say we’re already bowled over by the team spirit this season! Dennis Mowers
