A little share of the Thornborough Roses Women's Team here at Thornborough Cricket Club, if you're on Instagram, why not give them a follow to see their season.
The Thornborough Roses took a trip to Wormsley this weekend – allegedly the most beautiful cricket ground in the UK. After spending a day there in glorious sunshine, we're not about to argue! ☀️🏏🌹
With 12 teams competing in the softball festival, we squeezed in four back to back games, including two absolute nail-biters!
There were boundaries flying, wickets tumbling and plenty of Roses magic on display. Special mentions go to Lily and Chloe, whose bowling was simply phenomenal (and who weren't shy about finding the boundary either!). Julia celebrated her first-ever catch in spectacular style and backed it up with some consistently excellent bowling.
Alice, Ru and Tamsin were their usual outstanding all-round selves, contributing spectacularly all over the field - stopping boundaries, bowling hard and batting some big hits, Santhi with some brilliant close-in fielding, she's a brave woman! With quick calls to 'run!' to sneak an extra, Pippa stepped up at the last minute and delivered what the team needed with a particularly spectacular last bowl, while I kept things tidy with some great bowling spells and a few boundaries, also learning that I really like being a wicket keeper.
Whether we were winning, losing, or trying to remember whose turn it was to bat, the fun never stopped. A fantastic day of cricket, sunshine, teamwork and memories made at one of the most stunning grounds we'll ever have the privilege to play on. Who would've guessed our newbie team would be here a year after starting up! Thank you as always to Dan our coach, who not only gives up his evenings to coach, but also his Saturday and his own playing time too!
Huge thanks to the organisers .cricket and and everyone who helped and made us so welcome. The Roses had a wicket day! 🌹💪
