We've had a great summer and enjoyed building the women's team and taking part in our first few games and festivals. We're now looking to keep the momentum going and entering the INDOOR LEAGUE which takes place in Milton Keynes over Sept/ Oct/ Nov.

Still accepting new players. Training will continue outdoors at Buckingham Cricket club on FRIDAY Evenings during September, as we prepare for the indoor league matches and hopefully some indoor net sessions over the winter.

Tomorrow, Sunday 30th August, our Women’s team head over to Stony Stratford for their End of Season Women’s Softball Cricket festival, where we will be playing 5 games throughout the day.
The emphasis for this tournament will be fun and enjoyment for all of the participants. Many players will have played very little of the sport and are at the beginning of their cricketing journey. This tournament is about giving everyone game experience and enjoyment rather than being the Cricket World Cup.

The Festival begins at 10am, although the first game for Buckingham will be 11am. 🏏🏏🏏We’d appreciate any support from friends and family.

Stony Stratford CC is a family club and you are very much encouraged to bring your families along to support! To keep any younger kids entertained, they will have a bouncy castle set up. 🏰

The bar will be open from 12pm🍻 There will be a BBQ 🌭 running throughout the day. Payment will be by Card Only.

Car parking is available directly outside the ground, but is limited, so please car share where possible.

We had a lovely evening on Wednesday as our Women’s team hosted our very first home game against Newport Pagnell.
With a few extra members joining us from Trubys we made up two teams of 10, playing a friendly 15 overs per side game, with each batting pair taking 3 overs.
Buckingham chose to bowl first and showed some great form, with the level of bowling skills really improved from where we were at the start of the summer. Every member of the team got the opportunity to bowl at least one over and our umpires gave us some great coaching tips along the way too. Newport Pagnell were an experienced side and with some accomplished batting and good running between the wickets, NPTCC set a strong target of 292.
Buckingham stepped up to bat, with some great shots and many of our players scoring multiple boundaries, but Newport were a well drilled side and excellent speed in the field, along with some great catches meant we fell rather short of our target.
Newport ladies came out on top, but it was an excellent learning opportunity, with several members playing their very first match. And everybody came away smiling 😊
We have some areas to focus on in our next training session, but the ladies are excited to see what we can do as we head into our first tournament in Stony Stratford at the end of the month 🏏

Buckingham TCC 💚🦢Women's Softball team have their first HOME MATCH this Wednesday evening against Newport Pagnell TCC Women 💙🦢🏏🏏🏏

MATCH REPORT 🏏🏏🏏

We had a fantastic time at Thornborough on Sunday , as our Women’s team took to the field for the very first time.
We joined up with 3 players from Stony Stratford, who were so friendly and encouraging, they were a great support and really helped steady our nerves.

With Buckingham/Stony in first, our two co-captains Julia and Lotte opened the batting, making a steady start on 22-1 from the first 4 overs.
Vicki, then gave the opposition something to worry about, as she found the boundary 3 times in her first over. Supported by Hannah, they had some excellent running between the wickets and quickly took us to 50 for 2. Don’t worry Dipple, we won’t mention your attempted reverse sweep 🤦‍♀️
Clare (Stony Stratford) and Charlotte kept up the momentum with some great striking of the ball, despite a dodgy shoulder, taking us to 67-2 off 10.
Every player managed to get on the score sheet, and thank you to Thornborough players and umpires/coaches for your advice and guidance on the pitch, as we finished our innings with a respectable total of 92-4.

After a quick refreshment break, Buckingham’s Hannah and Vicki opened the bowling. The home side made a commanding start, racing to 41-1 off the first 4 overs.
Lotte and Clare then took the reins and some excellent bowling saw the home side reduced to 46-4.
Thornborough then dug deep and at the halfway mark were 68-4.
A couple more wickets fell, much to the surprise of our newest members, both getting wickets 👏🏻. Thornborough completed their innings on winning score of 126-7.

We were really pleased with our overall performance and had some excellent stand out moments. Shout out to Stony’s Clare W taking 3 wickets and to our own Vicki B as our top run scorer on the day.

We’ve certainly got things to work on in training, especially tidying up our fielding, but our first ever match was a big success and really positive start for our women’s team. I think we all took something away from the game, but mostly it was a day filled with kindness, encouragement, lots of laughter and a lot of fun!!!
We can’t wait to get back out there again soon. Please come along to our next game and support us, or even better, ask about how you can join in!!! 🏏🏏🏏 🥰💚🦢
