Buckfastleigh Open Air Pool - Victoria Park A community run, 138 year old heated open air pool & play park in Dartmoor National Park, Devon. It was due to close in 2015 following years of neglect.

We open for our heated summer season from May-September and our cold water season from September to February. Buckfastleigh Open Air Pool is part of the Victoria Park Buckfastleigh charity which was founded in 1887. A group of local volunteers campaigned to save it and took over control as trustees in April 2015. We raised £75,000 to fix and improve the pool and a further £220,000 to build a new s

kate park and adventure play area. The charity is now entirely manged by volunteers and employs a team of local lifeguards to keep everyone safe. We rely on grants and fundraising to keep us going!

💧 Bring plenty of water and keep hydrated
🧴 Apply suncream at least 20 minutes before your session and reapply regularly
🧢 Wear a hat and seek shade when possible
👀 Keep a close eye on children at all times, both in and around the pool

As we head into a busy spell, we recommend arriving a little before your session starts to queue and secure your place. Please remember that we have a limited capacity, and once full, we cannot admit any additional swimmers.

Join us on Friday 10th July for one of Buckfastleigh Pool’s most unique and enchanting events!

Start the evening with a guided walk and bat-spotting experience, discovering some of Buckfastleigh’s legendary Greater Horseshoe Bats as they emerge at dusk. Then return to the pool for a relaxing night swim beneath twinkling fairy lights and underwater illumination in our beautifully heated open-air pool. ✨🏊‍♀️

Our amazing lifeguards are taking on an incredible challenge to help secure the future of Buckfastleigh Open Air Pool!

From 12:00pm on Saturday 4th July until 12:00pm on Sunday 5th July, the team will be swimming continuously for 24 hours, raising vital funds to support the running, maintenance and future development of our much-loved community pool.

Every length they swim will help keep the pool thriving for future generations, and we’d love your support. Whether you can make a donation, sponsor the team, or simply come along and cheer them on, every contribution makes a difference.

🎉 The Swimathon will finish at midday on Sunday 5th July, marking the start of the pool’s birthday celebrations. More details about the birthday event will be announced soon!

Appeal for Information – Criminal Damage at Victoria Park, Buckfastleigh

We are disappointed to report a further incident of criminal damage at Victoria Park.

A member of pool staff had their vehicle vandalised whilst parked at the park on Wednesday 17th June 2026, sometime between 1:30pm and 8:45pm.

The incident has been reported to the police.

This type of behaviour is unacceptable and has a direct impact on the hardworking staff who help keep our community facilities running.

If you were in or around Victoria Park during these times and witnessed anything suspicious, or if you have any information that may assist in identifying those responsible, please get in touch with us or contact the police.

We would also ask local residents and visitors to check any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell camera footage that may cover the area during this period.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We will not be open to the public tomorrow (Tuesday 16th June), as our new thermal pool cover is being delivered and installed!
School sessions will continue as normal.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us and contributed towards the pool cover, and we look forward to sharing pictures of the new cover tomorrow!
