To all our members past and present, friends and associates.

It is with sadness and regret that we have had to come to the conclusion that Wormley CC will fold with immediate effect.
It has been difficult for a number of years now in regards to players and we no longer find ourselves in a sustainable position to keep a side going - needless to say, as a committee, we haven’t taken this decision lightly, but simply haven’t got any other options.

I would like to personally thank each and every player for Wormley through the years, and those that made it possible to play at such a friendly club.
Special mention to club legends Derek Barltrop and Andy Coombes for their dedication to the game but more importantly their voluntary work to keep the ground and club running for all these years - without them the section would have closed long ago.

It’s a sad day for Wormley CC, but I hope you all stay in love with the game.

Best
Ben Stevenson - Chairman WCC

Wormley CC finally managed to get out on the field yesterday to take on Stansted Hall.
Wormley batted first and posted 225-3.
Keith spinks fell just shy of his maiden ton to finish 97 not out. Tom Aylott also hit 52 backed up by Steve Mount.

Wormley took to the field (having lost the bowling of Joe Tutin - dislocated finger in the game the night before).
However all of the bowlers performed and bowled their opposition out for 169.
Tom Aylott was the surprise pick of the bowlers picking up 5-7!! But everyone chipped in with the ball for Wormleys first win of the season.

Well played all and keep it up

Wormley CC kicked off the 2021 campaign on Saturday at home to Ardley Walkern in division 2 of the Herts and Essex Border League

Wormley won the toss and elected to bat first hoping to put a score on the board.
Opener Ben Stevenson fell early to a one handed (stick your hand out) catch after middling a full toss to mid on, and after the loss of another quick wicket Wormley were quickly 2-2 fearing the worst.
Joe Tutin and Tom Aylott set about rebuilding the innings.
Joe and Tom had a steady start but quickly then set about hitting boundaries. joe reached his century and finished up massing 125, Tom ended up 108 not out having then batted through! Steve Mount managed a late flurry of boundaries to set Ardley 253 to win.
Wormley knew their bowling this week would not be their strength yet Marc Ferlisi and Jack Hawkins (bowling leggies) opening the bowling kept Wormley right in the hunt. Ardley lost a couple of wickets which brought their hitters to the middle and they did just that.
The game was tight right to the end with both sides scrapping hard.
Joe picked up 4 wickets to peg Ardley back but with the scores tied with one ball to go the game was tense....

Unfortunately for Wormley the batsmen scampered through right at the death on a bye to win the game.

A disappointing yet good game to start the season.

We go again (weather depending) this Saturday away and Tekeley.
