Our final pacer profiles are Steph Devlin (55 minutes) and Matt Buck (50 minutes).

Steph encourages everyone to see the fun side of running and just last Saturday supported her son to complete his first ever parkrun. She recently ran the Devil o' the Highlands ultramarathon, which was her longest ever race.

Equally comfortable on hills or flat roads, Steph is looking forward to helping runners aiming to finish in around 55 minutes to achieve their goal!

Matt has been running for 15 years and loves racing at all distances from the mile to the marathon. He has recently joined the coaching team at the Dundee Roadrunners and is enjoying the challenge of helping runners of all abilities improve.

If you are looking to break the 50 minute barrier for 10k, you might want to follow Matt. He'll be rocking his legendary blue and white sweatband as in the photo below!

A reminder of all our pacers:
35 minutes - Michael Richardson
40 minutes - David Aitken
45 minutes - Shaun Anderson
50 minutes - Matt Buck
55 minutes - Steph Devlin
60 minutes - Colin Birtwistle
65 minutes - Jackie Heilbronn
70 minutes - Phil Gillespie

It's up to you whether or how you use them on the day - you can follow them as part of a group to block the wind, or just treat them as a guide to how you're going. We hope they will help you achieve your goal time! They will be wearing blue vests with a black number on them.

Only two weeks to go, we hope you're looking forward to joining us on 7th June!

A reminder that race numbers are to be picked up on the morning of the event from Broughty Castle Bowling Club on King St, so please plan to arrive with plenty of time. Thank you to Fíona Canavan for the race number design featuring Broughty Ferry Castle and the Law.

We have now sent the final entry list to the timers, so unfortunately no further changes can be made.

Of the 400 entrants:
- There are slightly more women (218) than men (182)
- Our youngest participants are 15, while our oldest is 74
- Most are not affliated to a running club, but we have at least five runners from each of Dundee Roadrunners AC, Perth Road Runners, Dundee Hawkhill Harriers, Ferry Flyers, Forfar Road Runners, Fife AC, Jogforfar, Running Sisters Tayside and Strong Girls Run Club. If you're looking for people to run with in the future, why not try out one of those groups?

Regardless of your age, gender or pace, we look forward to welcoming you on the 7th!

If your target is to cover the 10k in under an hour, you might want to run with Colin, while if you're aiming for 45 minutes, Shaun can help.

Shaun enjoys running a wide range of distances and recently finished the Manchester Marathon with perfectly even splits at just under the 4:30/km pace he'll be running at our 10k, making him ideal for pacing 45 minutes.

Shaun says that running keeps him sane and you'll often see him out on the Riverside running while chatting to a mate. You can read more about Shaun's running story at https://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/meet-the-roadrunners?pgid=m2xafanw-b01e7e50-88ab-4b64-9378-7b06dccaf546 which shows how much being able to run means to him and what he's overcome.

He looks forward to helping runners at our 10k achieve PBs or other goals they may have.

Colin is an adventurous runner who in the past two months has completed both a 42 mile trail ultramarathon along the West Highland Way Trail with his son, as well as the 50km John Muir Way ultramarathon with his daughter.

When not running long distances with his family, Colin can be found running with the Dundee Roadrunners on Sunday and happily goes along at whatever pace others are comfortable with rather than feeling the need to run at a particular pace for himself.

If you want to run our 10k in 60 minutes, you'll be in good company in a group with Colin!

Waiting list update

A reminder that if you need to defer your place to next year or withdraw for a refund, the deadline for doing so is this Saturday 16th, so please contact us by then if you are no longer able to make it.

Due to a slight expansion of places and withdrawals/deferrals, we have now been able to offer places to all 100 people who joined the waiting list on the evening we opened entries and are currently up to offering places to people who signed up on 23 February. If you joined the waiting list before that date but haven't received an email, let us know, as the email might have gone to spam.

The current list of entrants, other than those who have chosen to be anonymous, is at https://www.entrycentral.com/signups/129219

We look forward to seeing you all in just over three weeks' time!

The next two pacers we're featuring are Jackie Heilbronn, who will be pacing 65 minutes, and David Aitken (40 minutes).

Jackie is always supporting her fellow runners. This has ranged from leading groups of new and returning runners to build up to their first 10k run, to mentoring first-time marathoners to success in the 2025 Manchester Marathon.

She also coordinates the collection of old running shoes from local runners to be donated to the JogOn charity. Thanks to Jackie, the Dundee Roadrunners donated 309 pairs of shoes last year. These shoes are sent to those who need them in 15 countries around the world, and also keeps shoes out of landfill.

In 2023, Jackie became the Scottish women's marathon champion in the 60-69 year-old age category, as she was the first Scot in that age group at the London Marathon.

Jackie's vast experience at a range of distances, along with her drive to help her fellow runners, makes her a perfect pacer. She looks forward to helping anyone targeting a time around 65 minutes to achieve their goal.

David ran his 10k PB of 36:51 at our test event last year. Having proved the course is fast, he's now back to support others get PBs of their own. Running a sub-40 minute 10k is a fantastic achievement that is often the next step up for dedicated runners who might have run a sub-20 parkrun.

David will be a familiar face to those of you who regularly run at local events, as he's always at parkrun or racing. His distinctive moustache often gets compliments from passers-by and has even been known to stop traffic! When not racing, David is always up for a chatty run or is cheering on his clubmates.

At our 10k he hopes to be leading a strong group of runners to break the 40 minute barrier.

Let us know in the comments if you plan to run with Jackie or David!

We have selected 8 pacers to help you achieve a time goal you might have. Our pacers will run at an even pace (or even effort if it's windy) to finish close to a specified time. They can help guide you as to whether you are running faster or slower than your target, provide encouragement and block the wind.

Today we're introducing our 35 minute pacer, Michael Richardson, and our 70 minute pacer, Phil Gillespie.

After pacing 50 minutes at the test event last year, Michael is back as your fastest pacer, with a finish time of 35 minutes. Following years of smashing out 10ks across Scotland, he recently took his love of the distance to Europe, competing in an elite 10k race in Würzburg, Germany.

One of his proudest running moments came two years ago, when he broke the 35 minute barrier for the first time at the Great Scottish Run. His strategy that day is the same one he will bring to the Dundee 10k – conserving energy early on by keeping it controlled, and running even splits throughout.

Michael is always up for a chat on the start line, whether you want to talk through race strategy, or just calm your nerves before we get going. His pre-race ritual is a bagel with peanut butter and blasting some feel-good pop music through his headphones, Addison Rae is a current favourite.

You can read more about Michael and his running journey at https://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/meet-the-roadrunners?pgid=m2xafanw-36e9a366-f1a6-4ed6-91ff-e0cadaf6e737

Our 70 minute pacer Phil has returned to running in his 50s and has very much taken to it, including winning the Dundee Roadrunners most improved trophy at their 5 mile race in 2023. He had very personal reasons for returning to running, which you can read about at https://www.dundeeroadrunners.co.uk/meet-the-roadrunners?pgid=m2xafanw-53aefb4a-38ca-40eb-9ceb-3405ee32f416 - along with a very relatable story about being beaten by a man dressed as a giant blueberry!

Phil enjoys the community and solidarity of running with people who push and encourage you to improve and is inspired by everyone's individual stories and motivations for running. He looks forward to supporting anyone who is aiming for 70 minutes for the 10k and seeing you achieve your goal.

Let us know in the comments if you'll be running with either Phil or Michael! More pacer profiles to come over the next couple of weeks.

6 weeks to go! All runners should have received an email today with more details about the event, as well as a 15% discount code for Run4It.

For those who are on the waiting list, we have so far been able to offer places to everyone who signed up by 6.46pm on 4 January, just in case that gives you a sense of whether you're likely to be close to the top of the list! We have asked people who can no longer make the event to withdraw for a refund or defer to next year by 16 May, so it is likely that some of you will get a place.

In the coming weeks we'll be posting more about the event, starting with profiles of our pacers, who can support you if you have a time goal.

If you like to run on trails as well as on roads, we also organise the Templeton Trail Race in August. It's about 9km run on the paths around Clatto Country Park and there's a great complimentary spread of food at the end! You can enter at https://www.entrycentral.com/DRRtrail

Every finisher will receive a medal designed by local illustrator Laura Darling-Brackenridge (https://www.darlingbyname.com or Laura Darling Illustration on Facebook). As well as being a great artist, Laura is also a keen runner with the Dundee Roadrunners AC.

Made of recycled zinc, the medal features Broughty Castle, the race’s start and finish point, with the distinctive outline of Dundee Law in the background. In the foreground, dolphins play in the Firth of Tay.

Thank you very much to Laura for the design and we hope that you're all looking forward to receiving the medal when you cross the line!

We're pleased to be able to offer some extra places to people on the waiting list. So if you're on the waiting list, look out for an email from EntryCentral inviting you to enter! You will have 96 hours to make the payment and confirm your place. Unfortunately we don't have space for everyone on the waiting list at this time, but more places may become available later.

We have also made our refund policy more generous, so if you have a confirmed entry but can unfortunately no longer run, please get in touch and we'll be happy to give you a full refund (apart from the small EntryCentral charge) as long as there are still people on the waiting list. Alternatively, you can defer your place to next year at no cost.

Preparations for the event are well underway and we look forward to seeing you in June!

We also organise a trail race, which has just opened for entries at https://www.entrycentral.com/drrtrail

It's on Sunday 2nd August and is a run of about 5 miles (8km) on forest paths starting from Clatto Reservoir. If you've done Camperdown parkrun, it's fairly similar types of terrain, but without such a big hill and it's usually fairly dry in summer. There's also a complimentary spread of food at the end that is worth the entry fee by itself!

So if you missed out on a 10k entry, or just because you like running on trails, why not sign up?

RACE STARTS AT 11am on Sunday 2 August Race Numbers are to be collected on the day. The event is a fun introduction to trail racing, run mostly on well-defined park paths, but with some trails and short hills. It is a one lap route around Templeton
