I had the pleasure of delivering a wee session at the Cosy Cafe Tayside Cancer Support at St Aidans again this week. It’s a beautiful space, warm, welcoming and friendly and most of all, their biscuit selection is fantastic!

Apart from my counting, it was great fun! 🎶

Another fun Cosy Cafe on Wednesday with Bev Gibb Coaching. For those who were asking after the session on Wednesday, Bev's timetable is below so you can continue having fun and living your best healthy life. For all of us generally and for those of us pre during and post treatment, the research confirms how important this is. Those who were there on Wednesday or, at Bev's visit in January, you know how much of a 😂 you get and the friends you meet while helping yourself keep healthy.🥰

Been refreshing my website and logo that was designed and built by these talented guys! 💻

Some websites are built to sell. Some are built to shout. This one was built to help.

Did you catch the news on BBC Breakfast this morning? 📺

A major new report from the Health and Social Care Committee has just been released, and it is talking about the importance of exactly what we do in our Strength and Balance and Move it or Lose it! classes every single week!

The report highlights that we need a massive shift in how we think about getting older. Later life shouldn't be framed as an "inevitable decline." The science is clear: frailty, falls, and loss of independence are NOT inevitable. In fact, they can be prevented and even REVERSED.

How? Through everyday movement, strength and balance training as well as connection with other people!

The report is calling on the government to fund more evidence-based exercise programmes to help older adults stay independent for longer.
But you don’t have to wait for that... that is exactly what my classes are all about!

Every class you come along to, we aren't just exercising for the sake of it, we are quite literally building a body that is resilient, strong, and going to keep us healthier and more independent for longer!

Why come to classes?
• To stay independent in your own home.
• To prevent trips and falls by keeping your ankles and legs powerful.
• To protect your brain health (the report explicitly links regular movement to delaying dementia).
• To improve our mental wellbeing both through exercise and through connection with other people.

New Class! - Day 1 of the new timetable!

Have you been thinking about moving more and sitting less, but don't fancy joining a gym or intimidating class...? This might be for you!

Start your week off as you mean to go on! Move it or Lose it! will now take place on Monday mornings at 10-11am at Forthill Sports Club.

Move It or Lose It! is a national programme developed by experts in healthy aging, focusing on the FABS formula (Flexibility, Aerobic health, Balance, and Strength). No floor work required, and completely adaptable for seated or standing options to keep you mobile, active, and independent.

The class is suitable for all ages, right up to 90s!

I like variety and will mix it up week to week, but we will always cover the FABS principles.

If you would like to come along and try, your first class is free!

☕There is also the added bonus of a social coffee and chat following the class! ☕

Forthill Sports Club has parking and disabled access. The class takes place in the Function Suite in the main clubhouse building - right hand side behind the padel courts.

New Summer Timetable, New Summer Goals!

Are you ready to feel stronger, move easier, and boost your confidence—both in your body mind? My new weekly timetable starts on 1st June!

Whether you’re looking to get fitter or focus on your strength and balance, there is a space for you. I keep things fun, supportive, and completely judgement free.

Here is what you need to know about the classes:

Move It or Lose It!: A national programme developed by experts in healthy aging, focusing on the FABS formula (Flexibility, Aerobic health, Balance, and Strength). No floor work required, and completely adaptable for seated or standing options to keep you mobile, active, and independent.

Strength & Balance: Focuses functional strength, aerobic health, improving posture, and improving balance. This class is delivered in both circuits as well as instructor-led.

Get Strong! Group PT (Wednesday Evenings): Looking for a personal trainer experience without the price tag? This small-group session gives you tailored coaching, learning to use body and weights to build strength and improve our bone density. Beginners at 6pm, Improvers at 7pm. Spaces are very limited.

Thrive Strength (Thursday Evenings): If you are looking for a full body workout suitable for beginners to improvers, this one is for you. Designed to sculpt, build strength, and leave you feeling great in a fun and supportive environment!

Forthill Sports Club Classes: Come for the movement, stay for the coffee and community! We always make time for a good friendly chat after these sessions. It’s the perfect way to meet new people too.

Good morning everyone. Can you believe we are getting ready for the June cafe! June's Cosy Cafe has a double visit! Some dental researchers are looking for 5 minutes of our time and we have popular visiting specialist Bev with her gentle workout. Improving balance and keeping Monifieth Moving! 🤸‍♂️

Are you looking to move more and improve your fitness but aren’t sure where to start? Maybe you’re recovering from an injury or illness or are worried about your balance, or simply want to stay active in a friendly, non-intimidating environment.

Join us every Friday morning at the MAC for classes designed to keep you strong, steady, and smiling!

⭐ 10:30 am: Move It or Lose It!
This session is perfect if you prefer a gentler pace or a seated-based class. Don’t be fooled by the chair, though—we still work hard on:
• Building Strength: To make everyday tasks easier.
• Improving Balance: To give you total confidence on your feet.
• Increasing Flexibility: To keep those joints moving and help with the aches and pains.
This class is based on the award-winning Move It or Lose It national programme, developed alongside experts at the Centre for Healthy Ageing Research at Birmingham University. It’s effective, and—most important fun!

⭐ Strength and Balance 9.30am @ the MAC
A slightly more upbeat session for those looking to get the heart rate up a bit more!

THRIVE STRENGTH (aka TNT - Thursday Night Thrive!) is a 45-minute full-body session designed to build CONFIDENCE, BALANCE, and STRENGTH—no matter where you’re starting from.

What makes this different?
✅ Your Level: A full-body workout that adapts to you (mat or chair options!).
✅ The Vibe: We work as hard as we can, but we laugh harder.
✅ Total Support: Perfect for beginners, returners, or anyone who just wants to get moving and feel stronger in body and mind.

🌟Today at Finmill Centre IYN North East I’ll be there at 1pm hosting a free Exercise for All taster session as part of a fantastic project funded by 🌟

This is suitable for all abilities! Seated 🪑 or standing🧍suitable for beginners from 18-90!

Here’s a wee clip of me talking about the GROWtogether project that I’ve been involved in - which is all about providing Wellbeing and Therapeutic opportunities to people who may face barriers to accessing them.

As part of the pilot we have been running since September we have provided;
