It is fundamental that all players consider how to construct their points. A key element to this is understanding the need to neutralise a point when under pressure and conversely how to create the situation where you eventually win a point.
Whilst a certain number of points will be won by unforced errors for which an attrition approach, perhaps even tempting an opponent to over-commit or similar might be of benefit, there will always be an additional requirement to finish the point with a winner or force an error yourself.
