Black Sox Celebrate Historic First Home Game at Broughton Alive - Bringing Our Community Together Carnival
The Broughton Astley Black Sox welcomed the Quorn Blue Sox to Thomas Estley Community College on Saturday for the club's first-ever home game, held as part of the annual Broughton Alive Carnival.
With families, friends, and local residents enjoying the carnival atmosphere, the occasion marked another significant milestone in the young club's journey as the Black Sox took to the field before a home crowd for the very first time.
Both teams produced some excellent baseball throughout the afternoon, with strong batting, sharp fielding, and plenty of action for the spectators who gathered to support the players.
For the Black Sox, there were numerous individual highlights and encouraging performances across the field. Defensively, Flo, Cole, Joseph and Finn all impressed in both infield and outfield roles when not taking their turns behind the plate, demonstrating growing confidence, versatility, and teamwork. Louie produced one of the standout moments of the day with an excellent early catch, while Ethan, Jack and newcomer Cooper all stepped in admirably when called upon, making valuable contributions in the field.
At the plate, Ethan recorded the Black Sox's first RBI of the game, giving the home supporters something to cheer, while Charlie continued to show an aggressive and confident approach with the bat. In the infield, Edward and Toby once again provided the dependable defensive presence that has become a hallmark of the team's performances.
Beyond the action on the diamond, the day represented another important step forward for the club. Playing in front of a home crowd as part of one of Broughton Astley's biggest community events gave the players an opportunity to showcase both their developing baseball skills and the positive spirit that continues to drive the Black Sox forward.
The club would like to thank everyone who attended the Broughton Alive Carnival and stopped by to support the team during this historic first home fixture. The encouragement from the local community helped create a fantastic atmosphere and made the occasion one to remember for players, coaches, volunteers, and families alike.
The two teams meet again this coming Saturday as the Black Sox host the Quorn Blue Sox in Game 3 of the four-game series at Frolesworth Recreation Ground, Broughton Astley. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:30 PM, and the team will look to build on another positive performance as their inaugural season continues.
**Big up the Black Sox!** Every player contributed, every player competed, and every player represented the club brilliantly. The commitment, teamwork, enthusiasm, and determination on display reflected everything the club stands for and provided plenty of reasons to be excited about the future.
