Today marks 10 years since we lost our former player, teammate and friend, Darren โDarDarโ Rodgers.
Darren was tragically taken from us following Northern Irelandโs Euro 2016 match against Poland in Nice. His passing left a huge void, not only within Braid United but across the wider football community.
Darren was the type of person who would do anything for anyone. Whether on the pitch or off it, he gave everything, always had a smile on his face, and was guaranteed to bring the craic wherever he went. He wasnโt just one of our players โ he was one of our friends.
Ten years may have passed, but Darren remains a huge part of our clubโs story. He is sadly missed every day, but he will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts today are with Paul and Jackie, whose loss and grief can never truly be measured. We hope they know that Darrenโs football family continues to remember him with great love and affection.
Earlier this month, we were honoured to have a Memorial match in Darrenโs name against a Carniny Amateur Select, raising ยฃ850 for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
A sincere thank you to everyone who played, attended, donated and supported the event. Your generosity helped ensure Darrenโs memory continues to make a difference.
On this difficult anniversary, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Darrenโs family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory lives on through the stories, friendships and moments he shared with us all.
Gone but never forgotten.
