We are inclusive and support everyone regardless, 365 days of the days of the year here at Ionians not just for the month of June.

The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the riots held by members of the LGBT community against a police raid that took place at the Stonewall Inn in New York City on June 28, 1969. The so-called Stonewall riots were a "tipping point" for the gay liberation movement in the United States, according to the Library of Congress. The uproar also paved the way for the modern fight for LGBT rights.

Did you know the rainbow flag, according to Baker's website, the colors of the LGBT flag each have a meaning: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for harmony and violet for spirit.

🌍 World Facts!
There are 69 countries that have laws that criminalise homosexuality. There 13 countries where being gay can lead to the death penalty 😞 These are a couple of the many reasons why there is still work to be done and awareness to be made!

Take some time to read up on why Pride Month is important.

At Ionians we are proud to be able to provide a place where everyone can be themselves! ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Today we played our second touch game of the weekend at home against a Scunthorpe/Grimsby team.

With this being the women’s fourth touch game since we were allowed to play again, they looked like a well oiled machine, taking in everything that’s been said and practiced in training by applying it on the pitch.

The game played to o2 touch rules was end to end with Scunthorpe putting some pressure on, we can take great pride in our defensive line, organisation and putting the pressure on Scunthorpe when they were near our try line. In the end Ionians Women ran out as winners of the match with a score of 8-0

Our rookies should get a special mention as they really are looking like they’ve been part of the team and playing rugby for a lot longer than a couple months so we’ll done to them! 👏🏼
