🚴‍♂️ GBDuro26 - Matt’s journey so far! 🚴💪💪💪

480 miles down. 14,300m of climbing. 🤯

Matt is currently sitting around 5th place and is on course to hit the halfway mark tomorrow! 🔥

Today brought some absolutely beautiful riding…along with some massive hills! ⛰️😮‍💨

And because every epic bikepacking adventure needs a little drama, a buckle on Matt’s saddle pack decided to snap. 😬 Thankfully, he’s picked up some webbing straps and is back on the road. Not exactly ideal, but needs must!

Keep pushing Matt, halfway is nearly there! 💪🚴‍♂️

Our very own Matt Ashcroft is taking on his next crazy challenge this weekend…GBDuro26! The Racing Collective

2,000km from Land’s End to John O’Groats, tackling road, gravel, singletrack and everything in between, all self-supported.

And because apparently that wasn’t hard enough… Matt is attempting it on his MTB singlespeed! 🤯

Starting at 8am Saturday, he’s off on what’s been described as “a scrappy rolling picnic through Britain’s ever-changing landscapes.” 😂

Day 13 of the NorthCape4000 and Gareth James has officially ridden out of Sweden and into Finland! 🇸🇪➡️🇫🇮

Today’s route from Boden to Rovaniemi brought a new set of challenges, with a relentless headwind and rain making every mile that bit tougher. But if there’s one thing Gareth has shown throughout this incredible journey, it’s determination that refuses to quit.

The stats continue to amaze:
📍 2096 miles ridden
⛰️ 86,210 feet climbed
🚴‍♂️ Averaging around 161 miles every single day
😮 Rest days: ZERO

Every day is another test of endurance, resilience and mental strength, and Gareth keeps taking it on, one pedal stroke at a time.

🚴 One bike. 4,000km. 26 days. One unforgettable adventure.

Our very own Gareth James is currently taking on the incredible NorthCape4000 Edition IX, the world’s largest ultra-distance cycling adventure.

With 8 countries to cross on the journey to the North Cape and the chance to witness the magical midnight sun, this is an adventure like no other. Bringing together 700 riders from across Europe, it’s a challenge that pushes riders to their limits while rewarding them with breathtaking scenery, lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.

Gareth has already covered an incredible 998km and 9670m of elevation with more still to come! 💪

💙🚴 Massive congratulations to Chris, James & Glyn! 🚴💙

What an incredible achievement from our V-Sprint Cycling Club riders, Chris Woods, James Leckie and Glyn Rossant, who successfully completed the Le Tour du Mont Blanc 2026, widely regarded as one of the world’s toughest one-day cycling events.

An astonishing 333 km with a staggering 8,400 metres of climbing.

As James summed it up:
“The most challenging event ever… but done!”

An epic challenge, conquered through determination, teamwork and resilience. We couldn’t be prouder!

A huge congratulations to Russ & Gareth on an incredible achievement, riding an astonishing 220 miles from Manchester to London in a single day! 🚴🚴💪

Not only is this an amazing feat of endurance, determination, and resilience, but it was all done to raise funds for the fantastic charity

As a club we have listened to official guidance been given with RED temperature alerts and taken decision to cancel tonight’s Thursday ride at 7pm.

We will look at future rides as the week progresses. Stay safe, stay cool and we will see you on the next ride.
