You'll have seen us mention Team Tippmann now and then, so here's a proper introduction to the squad we back.
They shoot UKPSA practical with mini rifle, which is fast, technical, and a lot harder than the good ones make it look. The team spans a few different divisions, and that's where it gets interesting for anyone new to the sport.
Open division is exactly what it says. Unlimited, no real restrictions on the setup, so you'll see optics, compensators, the lot. It's the closest practical shooting gets to a no holds barred build. James Williamson, James Thomas, and Duncan Roe fly the flag for us in Open.
Standard is the discipline test. No scopes, irons or red dots only, so it rewards fundamentals over kit. Abyl Kaium shoots Standard for the team. Andrew Marling rounds things out in the Senior division.
Different divisions, same sport, completely different approach to solving the same problem on the clock.
So here's the one for you. If you were lining up at a practical match this weekend, which division are you walking into? The kit-it-out freedom of Open, or the back-to-basics challenge of Standard? And what's your reasoning?
