⚠️ Horse Rider Warning - Wimbleball Multisport Festival ⚠️
Please be aware that the Wimbleball Multisport Festival will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend (28-31 August 2026) at Wimbleball Lake, Exmoor. The festival includes triathlons, open water swims, trail races and cycling sportives, attracting large numbers of participants throughout the weekend.
🐴 Areas likely to experience increased cyclist activity include:
• Wimbleball Lake and surrounding trails
• Brompton Regis and neighbouring lanes
• Dulverton and the surrounding countryside
• Roads and routes across Exmoor used by the sportive events
Please note that roads will remain open during the event, and riders using roads and tracks in the area should be aware of an increased number of cyclists throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, particularly on Saturday 29 August.
BHS South West recommends that horse riders avoid riding around Wimbleball Lake during the August Bank Holiday weekend where possible, due to the volume of participants and associated event activity.
✅ Ride with extra caution
✅ Be aware of cyclists approaching from behind
✅ Allow plenty of space when passing others
✅ Consider alternative routes if your horse is unsettled by bicycles
Please share this information with fellow equestrians who may be riding in the area over the Bank Holiday weekend.
